There is literally no truth to that statement Bluke. I am a very moderate drinker by choice. It comes very easy for me and takes zero effort.

Those who struggle and give It up are much stronger.

Im pretty sure I've had a lot more (non political) conversations with her over our two decades here than you have and while we have certainly drifted a bit in our political/spiritual opinions, I have never once thought Insulting her or calling her names was warranted for her seeing things differently than I do on some matters.

Just insulting other posters. Maybe not the most admirable thing to do?

    So what did you today?
Well, I went online and told other people how much they suck. It’s really cool!

It comes easy for you to drink in moderation…
    You’re just being humble.
I have an addictive personality and my drinking is mostly balanced.
But I do think it takes some work and thoughtfulness.
And I do find people who can drink responsibly to be more worthy of admiration. Call me crazy.

Well, let's actually look at who stands where...

    1. Roe v Wade: GOP has always been against it. Still is. Only change, is that a conservative SCOTUS over turned it, and lo n behold, when the shoe got on the other foot, the Left had a historic melt down.

    2. Gay marriage. 20 years ago, on both sides of the aisle, the mere notion was an abject abomination. Now, one side did a 180, and it wasn't "the far right".

    3. The debt. When we went to war with Afghanistan and Iraq in the wake if 9/11, the Left pitched a hissy fit over 1.5 Trillion dollars of debt incurred over 12 years. The right did the same over $857 billion "too big to fail" bail outs (in a single year). Since then, Trillion dollar annual DEFICITS have been normalized, especially in the wake of COVID. One side has registered a modicum of resistance to that, and it aint the Left.

(Whats more, one side has indicated an intent to aggressively reign in wasteful spending--through a brand spanking new outfit known as DOGE--and it aint coming from the left. In fact, the Left is aggressively resisting it!!!

    4. Illegal immigration. One side has always sought to tighten the borders, the other--the Left--always held the same, but simply drug their feet and resisted aggressive enforcement of the border, clear through Clinton and Bush II, and arguably, even through Barry.

THAT side--the LEFT--has since overtly and aggressively opened up the borders and allowed some 20 Million new, unvetted Illegals into the nation.

Who changed??? Why the LEFT did, and didn't even acknowledge the problem as a problem (of their creation) until within a year of the 24 election, when it already appeared they were looking electoral catastrophe square in the face--and even subbed out candies to try to fool the electorate that they would take border security seriously ( just about @#$%& funny right there...).

    So straight up bullshit honey.

It. Is. Y'ALL. who have flaked the @#"&&%#@ off from reality.

I lost someone very close to me (indirectly) because of substance abuse. They ultimately were murdered as a result of the path, though not because of health.

He fought it every day. Literally FOUGHT it.
He was a very strong person generally, but his dependency overtook his strength.

I've already lost 2 of my closest friends from UF within a year of each other. Cats I ran with back in the day. They'd be the first ppl to tell you they held the key to their own prison all along. Well, at least for a good long time before they didnt. I can add to this, a fellow lawyer, Gator and friend, who died about 2 years ago, due to chronic alcoholism.

Also lost yet another dear friend just last month (that's 2 in December, if you're counting), who finally succame to the big C, after >50 years of >2 pack a day smoking habit. She'd own she bought n paid for her fate decades ago.

    Accountability.

Starts with owning your own roll in your own fate

You do no one any favors, by sugar coating things, imho.

TBL: for everyone i know who couldn't kick a lethal habbit (at least b4 it was too late...), I've known several more, who did.

And the only difference, is that the ones who kicked the habits, decided to, and followed through.

A lot of fiction there. And I do get a chuckle out of the basic premise that the right is so steady and calm while the left has historic meltdowns one after the other. Today is, after all, Jan. 6. And remember how the right went ballistic because a transgender woman posted a short video promoting Bud Light?
But let's look at a few specifics:
    The polls from 2006
Approval ranged from 39 to 42. It's pretty clear that everyone didn't consider it an abomination. And which side of the aisle do you think that 40 percent was?
About 70 percent now approve of same sex marriage. So it sounds like some on the right have changed their minds too.

When has the right done anything about reducing the deficit, other than talk?

I must say, all the mods in this forum are much more thick-skinned and will take insults from posters on the chin. Certain mods in other forums on here get their feelings hurt much easier and have itchy ban fingers. Way to not be snowflakes, TH mods!

    NB: January 6 to Radical meltdown Lefties = a riot at the Capital in the wake of dubious/crazy sus election (which y'all dubbed an "insurrection" due to your meltdown politics);

NB: January 6 to most folks on the Right= "The Feast of the epiphany", a/k/a "3 Kings Day".

You were babbling something about the Left vs Right keeping /losing perspective???

Polls can say whatever you want them to say.

NB: Billy Bob him ownseff, signed DOMA into law. That's the Defense of Marriage Act--to bipartisan support. It expressly defined Marriage as between a man and a woman.

The charge to blow that up, came from the LEFT.

Remember that last balanced budget that y'all tout so loudly about, under Billy Bob?

It didn't come from Billy Bob; he wanted to spend lots more, and go deeper into debt.

It was crammed down his gullet by Newt "the Gringrich who stole Christmas" Gingrich's GOP majority, per its Contract With America.

Now, we have Trump green lighting Musk's and Vivek's "DOGE".

In between, we had a lot of empty/broken GOP promises and bought and paid for whores come and go, which is WHY Donald Trump was elected to lead the GOP.

We were sick and tired of getting lied to and screwed by our own elected officials.

...while your party goes ever deeper, doubling and tripling down, on radical HUGE MONSTER GOVERNMENT socialism/communism...

    Again:

Y'all are the ones, flaking crazy stupid loco in la cabeza off of reality.

Not sugar coating here. Just saying very strong people fight these issues. It doesn't take strength to be a non addict. It takes strength to fight it.
