What happened to Oaktowngator?

I believe Oaktown was actually in Oakland CA, right?
If so, he's a lot safer now in the home of the newly wed and nearly dead.

 

What a weird post. As far as I've ever seen, the mods here have always been pretty reasonable to posters, no matter their personal views.

And that doesn't appear to have changed, even if now we do get a thrice-daily update from Bo.Snerdley.com, and even more frequent updates from news sources that have been repeatedly proven to be dishonest and inaccurate.

But that doesn't mean that the moderation has changed at all really, much less for the better.

This is just you trying to say something unkind, inaccurate though it is. Enjoy, I guess....

@lacuna is very good at encouraging posters to self-reflect. Perhaps the poster you responded to is uncomfortable with that. Case in point:

Yeah, that's a little more how I member it. Held himself out as centrist, but leaned noticeably left of center to my taste.

That said, he was always civil, polite and cool about it. He wasn't arrogant or brash to my recollection.

He wouldn't fit in with today's TDS obsessed rabid lefties.

 

Well this has been amusing. And to answer a question asked upthread, before getting to the cleanup needed on aisle 2 - yes, Oaktown did live in Oakland before returning to Florida.

Letting off steam and venting can be a good thing. If flgator2 has a need to do that to remain in the scorching atmosphere of Too Hot, I say fine, let him do it. This "ole girl" can take whatever her number one fan is pleased to serve.

I don't remember when or how things became heated between us. It's been years, certainly before the right wing group recruited by GGordon Gator trundled off to chat elsewhere. I'm an opinionated person and on occasion have not been reticent to say what's on my mind. Yes, there have been times I apparently have offended Gator2, who appears to hold a deep seated grudge against me. I recently found I too held one against a recently returned moderator for a particularly ugly old offense perpetrated against me. All I wanted was an acknowledgment and an apology which it doesn't seem is in the works. Here and now I'm letting it go.

Gator2 is apparently still incensed over a reply and comment I made on a post he wrote but deleted before my reply to his deleted post was posted a few hours later. He reported the post with my response and only then did I learn he had deleted his post I had replied to.

When I post I often take my time considering what I want to communicate before I write and post. This particular time I captured and quoted his post in the early morning hours when he - and I - often peruse the forum. When I returned to the quote/reply page later that morning to finish and post my reply I was unaware he had deleted his original post. When given an explanation and apology for unintentionally commenting on a deleted post, he refused to believe me and called me a liar.

This sort of thing needs to stop.

I’ve held more respect for those who can handle the heat and not go cold turkey.
Those who quit drinking are usually weaker than those who can drink in moderation.
I don’t know Oakland, but my guess is he was another weak libbie.
We need more like Gatorade and Oragator.

I still don't believe you; you've been a huge cause of this as you put it scorching atmosphere on TH. And yes, that was the start along with many others. Another prime example of you as a mod and a poster, we as posters are not allowed to attack mods openly, so I followed the guideline and sent you a private message only for you to share the response on this forum. That's the real lacuna and that's who you are and always will be.
I'm still waiting for when you're not going to be on TH as much, I knew when you made that comment it was a lie also.

I rarely dabble in posts here.

Personal stuff and ad hominem attacks - they need to stop. A good gator alum told me about this place, he had 1000s of posts. Quit one day. Hasn't posted since Musgump. Had a very personal attack I saw/read.

I am better and happier. I know you and I have different opinion of her and that's fine. I know the truth and I know what type of person she's not, I'm pretty sure you know exactly how she is also.
