A very informative and interesting idea. I am under the impression that this system could remove some of the chaos and dirty dealings that we see in the recruiting of high school athletes. It also could bring a major realignment of college football teams. This also would be a change for the good. I am referring to the various divisions with in the NCAA and also the current conferences. The current conferences arrangement is a factor on the inane (or insane) methodology that determines the national championship. Your proposal could lead to a better playoff system. This would be a major change. Unfortunately, too many people do not want to tamper with history (referring to conferences). In other words they will resist a change like the one you suggested However, in the past decade, we all have seen some big changes in the college football conferences. I am referring to schools jumping to another conference and the decline and growth of some conferences. My guess is that these changes have make it easier for the change you suggested.
Would definitely put a dent in the IMG model, which I'm all for. Better to just do it yourself than need those greedy bastards to steer them to you.
