Florida lost almost every category, except turnovers/points off turnovers. I bet most of that was last 10 minutes.

I wouldn't go so far as saying "good", but fair. Provided 9 needed points, but continues to dribble himself into trouble.

True. But it seemed every “bounce” on loose balls was going their way too. I remember one where we had amped up the pressure, Condon basically had an easy steal but it ricocheted back to an SC player under the basket for an easy bucket.

Admittedly some of that was probably just them out hustling esp in the 1st half. Bounces sometimes seem to go a teams way when they bring the extra effort and get off to a good start at home, and SC is desperate for a W and did beat UF pretty handily on the glass.

Thankfully they found something that worked with that press. Turnover battle tilted it back in our favor despite almost ever other major stat going SC’s way (even our usual bread ‘n butter rebounding we lost pretty badly).

I think that may have been only the second game we've been outrebounded. Looking at the box score, I see that Chins had 6 boards in just 18 minutes, making him easily our best rebounder last night. Probably should have gotten more minutes.

This is where much of the credit should go. I posted in the game thread about midway through the second half when we were way down that the coaches needed to step up and put the kids in a position to win when they are having an off night and that is exactly what they did. Could this be like Spurrier finding success with the shotgun against Bama in '96 SEC Chamionship Game and riding it to an MNC? We may no thave the depth to press all the time, but maybe we can shock some teams and speed them up with the press when they least expect it.

No, I changed shirts at halftime. Everytime I do that, we play better in the 2nd half.

When it comes to dribbling into trouble, all of our guards seem to pick up their dribble constantly in the half court. Idk if I'm just looking for it now that I have seen it, but man it seems like a major issue. It does make some sense, because we don't have a true PG, but it makes me nervous.

I'm so excited about the win... BUT...
We've come out sleepy now for 2 of the last 3 games.
Outrebounded, out hustled, putting up dumb shots, etc.

We came back in both games, and kinda got lucky that the USC shot launched too early. And didn't get so lucky vs Mizzou. (Plus the refs- oy!)

Again, I love love love the win, but we need to understand that we are going to get every team's A game.
And when we come with our C game, we will usually lose.

UF has a big ole target on their back now. The team has to understand they're going to get everyone's best shot for the rest of the season.

SC was lacking a true point guard and is turnover prone, so dialing up the press worked brilliantly. Going forward, I'd like to see us use that for a few possessions just to throw the opponents off a little.

Yep. It's a fine line . . . second half teams with confidence can get into a habit of starting slow or it's just their team character. Maybe finding the press and using strategic traps more from the start will jump start them sooner.

Few things: "we've come out sleepy". Yes, as most SEC road teams do I've noticed this year. Mizzou sucked cause we were at home. The energy should have been there.

The SEC is considered by most pundits, to be the strongest the conference has been.............EVER? Some pundits are suggesting the SEC could approach having 9 or 10 tourney teams.

4 - 2 after 6 is really not bad at all in this league. If UF could finish 12 - 6 that certainly means a high seed in the NCAA.

It's going to be a tough slog, and UF needs to show up against UGA. Can't afford another SEC home loss, especially against a team that, while good, is not considered at the top of the class of the SEC.

We tied our best ever start, so I think it goes without saying the record is good!

Season is a long grind and nobody is going to have their A game all 18 games. But I’d say in league play sneaking out of there with the W was pretty important. Esp if you want to stay in the hunt for the regular season champs or even a top 4 seed. Dropping a pair of 1 point games would be killer.

Obviously it’s way early, but 4-2 vs 3-3 is the difference beteeen T3 or T9 in the standings right now. A double bye vs no bye at all. Later on of course 1 game might not have a 6 place difference as teams sort themselves further, but there could be a bunch of teams hovering around .500 at the end.

17-2, zeroing in on that 20-win season really early this season.

He was getting whipped down low defensively because of the quickness of South Carolina’s bigs. Haugh is just faster on his feet. Going to need both of them depending on matchup.
