I was just exposing (no pun intended) the irony of the outrage. Also, what about R rated movies? It should all be up to the parents and not the government.

My instinct tells me this is too broad to pass Constitutional muster. It also brings up potential Due Process and Equal Protection issues.

Also, as a policy matter, I'm not a fan of 21 being the minimum age to do much of anything, including these types of surgeries. It seems ridiculous to me that at 18, you can be a stripper, get implants, get a bbl, get all sorts of cosmetic surgery with heavy sexual connotations, but prohibit people from getting trans surgery until they're 21. Not much of this passes the smell test for me.

    Bad policy, and probably Unconstitutional.

It's the typical knee jerk putting the cart before the horse just to win points with the base, bill. All it does is create more chaos, but they love that for some reason.

Yes, I don't understand why liberals on this forum always bring up the children's beauty pageants.

"Well, if you want to get rid of drag queen story hour, we should also get rid of children's beauty pageants."

My first instinct is always unequivocally: "your terms are acceptable." :D

What is considered "normal" is ever changing and evolving, you just don't like that change. I wouldn't even take my kid to an R rated movie, yet my neighbors had a library of them for their kids to watch when they were like 8 years old. Exposing our kids to sexually charged events/movies/ etc., is up to parents and for me it is all damaging because kids are impressionable. I've never seen a drag queen read a book, and it doesn't LOOK sexually or verbally explicit, so I'll have to reserve judgement. The conservative side of me hates government overreach, and this is just that.

To be fair, I think there is a difference between "happening to be gay" and centralizing your entire identity around your sexual orientation.

People seem to act sometimes like these things are personality traits. They just are what they are, and we should stop treating them like they're a big deal. That applies to both shunning and constantly feeling the need to remind everyone that you're gay and you're proud of it.

Church and religious standards are a separate issue entirely, IMO.

I think groomers are the problem and if anyone advocates for them then I will not hesitate to cal them out. LGB or not.

Common definition:Normal = something that is regular, nothing out of the ordinary. Determined by people around you/within a society; can even be determined yourself. Typical = something, usually an action, that occurs often and is not a surprise. Common = something that happens a lot and is not rare.
So as things change, so does what we, as a society, consider normal. It was "normal" for a woman to stay home and never work, now that isn't exactly normal anymore. You may not like the change, but change happens regardless of what we like.

Again, government need to stop trying to parent people's children.

I guess I can see that distinction. Of course, the "gay pride" movement has been about supporting people who were, until relatively recently, ostracized by family, bullied, or even risked prosecution; "gay pride" makes sense in that context in a way that specifically heterosexual celebrations and activism would not. When we see men at Mardis Gras offering beads for women to flash them, that's obviously heterosexual, but that behavior is not framed or perceived in that context - people will just debate whether it's appropriate in public. Anecdotally, the gay and lesbian people I've known over the years have been in committed relationships and you might not even know their sexual orientation unless they mentioned their significant other.

    Interestingly most pedophiles are heterosexual.

Excellent but it will never get through to them, because it's not really about protecting kids - that's just the cover

R rated movies at least have a warning for parents about adult content. Wanna bet there would be outrage if anyone pushed for such a label to be attached to drag shows if the show didnt want it?

I'm not in the camp that gays are more likely to be predators, but I will say that the low number of them in the pop in general means their numbers would be lower just from a math standpoint.

Well a certain poster once accused me of supporting such pageants because "my kind" do... Lol

It was the dumbest thing ever posted on this forum. I think those pageants are legalized exploitation and I hate them. The one mom I know that does them is exactly as you would expect her to be and is the furthest thing from a conservative.

She left her husband and focuses on that stuff. Truly weird behavior.
