For the reasons stated in this opinion piece by the inimical Maureen Dowd, I do wish he’d announce NOW that he does not intend to take office as an 82 year old.
Opinion | Hey, Joe, Don’t Give It a Go

“He could leave on a high, knowing that he has delivered on his promises for progress and restored decency to the White House. He did serve as a balm to the bombastic Donald Trump. Over the next two years he could get more of what he wants and then step aside. It would be self-effacing and patriotic, a stark contrast to the self-absorbed and treasonous Trump.

“He offered himself up as an escape from Trump and Trumpism, a way to help us get our bearings after the thuggish and hallucinatory reign of a con man. Then he and his team got carried away and began unrealistically casting him as an F.D.R. with a grand vision to remake the social contract. Biden’s mission was not to be a visionary but to be a calming force for a country desperately in need of calming, and a bridge to the next generation. So he’s a logical one-termer, and that keeps him true to his high-minded point: What does the country really need?

“The country really needs to dodge a comeback by Trump or the rise of the odious Ron DeSantis. There is a growing sense in the Democratic Party and in America that this will require new blood. If the president made his plans clear now, it would give Democrats a chance to sort through their meh field and leave time for a fresh, inspiring candidate to emerge.

“Usually, being a lame duck weakens you. But in Biden’s case, it could strengthen him. We live in a Washington where people too often put power over principle. So many Republicans have behaved grotesquely out of fear that Trump will turn on them. So the act of leaving could elevate Biden, freeing him from typical re-election pressures, so he and his team could do what they thought was right rather than what was politically expedient.”

    You forgot:
    1. Decades in the Senate with no accomplishment, and many stupid remarks including the one about Obama.

    2. Eight years as VP where even his president didn’t have confidence in him or entrust anything of importance to him.

    3. Crashing the US economy in less than 1 1/2 years.

Of course not, unless somebody's crazy uncle is a "credible source."

You can say a lot about Biden's time in the Senate, but you can't claim he had no accomplishments. Hard to take you seriously when you're either that ignorant or that dishonest. The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, which included the Violence Against Women Act and the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, is literally nicknamed the "Biden Crime Law."

From the last five, I assume you're among the deluded who think that the former president actually won the election and that it was stolen from him through election fraud.

Yep, it was SO easy to win, they decided they could run out a quality candidate who isn't a "baby kisser" and has convictions rather than politico-speak. Good for him.

Oops, I realize that is NOT what happened. No one worth a damn either got into the race or could not gain any traction with the Dem faithful. So, you have an open path to a win and the Dems roll out a long-term loser who has plagiarized other speeches and called them his own?

Own the fact that the Democratic Party does not stand for anything but "vote us in and make us wealthy." Not that it isn't in the Pub party, just that the Dem faithful seem to have misplaced that memo.

I'm stumped and need some advice from board-at-large (and the bored-at-large too, I suppose):

On which list, Bazza's or JJ's, does one properly place Biden's recession, record inflation, and record gas prices?

1 False. 2 False. 3. False. And, in the last month, he accomplished it all while working remotely from home with COVID!

. We are not in a recession. While the country met the indicators of the lay person definition of a recession (2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP), under more Sophisticated indicators, we are not in a recession in any sense with jobs growth at the rates they are etc. And inflation and gas prices are world wide resulting from supply side shortages created by the pandemic and war in Ukraine. Biden is no more responsible for those than any other leader in the world. Perhaps we could have conceded Ukraine to Russia to keep oil flowing more cheaply, but that would have some out the principles held by some of us. Not the those principles held by the Trump Putin Orban loving right wing GOP. But those of the rest of us. And gas prices are coming down.

We're in a "recession" where the unemployment rate is still falling and is near historic lows lol. Inflation also isn't at record highs. And gas prices have dropped for seven straight weeks.

I guess you can put record gas prices on J.J.'s list because that technically happened. You can put record inflation on Bazza's list because that's false. Recession is debatable depending on one's definition.

indeed. It cuts off right after hail and locust. That is real information I could use, keep the car in the garage and mow my lawn in advance.

American rescue plan was too large but otherwise absolutely. It isn’t a terrible list. I think he deserves some credit on facilitating Covid vaccine rollouts also.

What makes the global recession/inflation/gas prices attributable to Biden?

The part where he destroyed Trump in the 2020 election. He's done some good things since then too, but banishing the coup-plotter from the White House is what will truly be remembered.
