The pettiness of a POTUS who refuses to hang the portraits of his predecessor.

What a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ dickish, petty, childish move. And preceding the word dickish would be the perfect spot to insert the word we can't use in any form or tense on here. But it certainly belongs there.

Maybe. Time to turn the page. Glad to see some normalcy. I think Biden should hang a picture of Trump, but I suspect Trump will decline from attending.

Trump sullied the Office, and continues to this day to sully our democratic traditions. Why should Biden have some ceremony for a man who believes the election was stole, and that he, not Biden, should be in the Oval Office?

Because that’s what good people do, and we shouldn’t let Trump dictate what kind of people we are.

Do you think that Hitler’s portrait should be hanging in the German Chancellery?

I know it's mean to make fun of appearances, but donald's lustful, unwelcomed approach to women and orange faced vanity enables me.

Not my country. The implication that an American President, regardless of your view, is comparable to Hitler is unbecoming. Even typing this response makes me cringe. Yuck!

There is a portrait of Buchanan and Johnson in the White House. Context much?

Again, as much as I dislike Trump, there's no reason to compare him to someone like Hitler. It's so over the top that it makes it easier to dismiss real criticism of him.

I completely disagree. Trump lied about the pandemic and caused hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths because he thought that the truth would hurt the stock market and negatively affect his popularity. There is not a shadow of a doubt in my mind that Trump would be fine with millions of people dying if it kept him in power. We know with certainty that he would have been okay with Mike Pence and others dying on January 6 if it would have kept him in power. He continues to be willing to destroy our democracy and bring us to the brink of civil war to get back into power. The comparison between Trump and Hitler is an apt one in my opinion.

As much as I would personally love to see the Trump portrait resemble Bozo the Clown, or Trump's portrait hung in the WH Bunker bathroom next to the toilet, there are times that taking the high road is the right decision. I think this is one of them. If/when the Trumps' portraits are done, Biden should take the high road and invite them to the WH for the unveiling. Even though Trump showed zero respect for the office, the right thing to do is the opposite.

While I agree that Trump has truly sullied the office, I think that President Biden should invite Trump and Melania back to the White House for a portrait hanging ceremony. As was suggested in post #3, it's a virtual certainty that Trump would decline and to demonstrate his lack of class probably through a post on his social media platform using a childish derogatory insulting nickname in reference to Joe Biden.

    I don’t disagree.
He’s got to have portraits done first. I doubt he’ll have one with that shit-eating grin of his.

Absolutely. Take the high road. If trump chooses another, that’s his choice.
But don’t let him change us

But who gets to make that decision? Not the current president. That would be unbecoming. Put their portraits up there as a reminder of what can happen to our democracy if we don't protect it.

Whoever took that picture — the kiss between the portraits — wow.
