IMHO, the disconnect between the need to run the QB, and the willingness to do so, has at least as much to do with AR as it does with the scheme or play calling. The same can be said for the apparent inability to mount a reliable, effective passing game. Not that the scheme and play calling aren't an issue to some extent, but our QB (at least for now) is what an old business associate of mine would have described as "verklempt beyond f'ing belief." Hopefully the knots in the AR's head will begin to untangle themselves, starting today, and we will see the emergence of the great player we all hope he can become. Go Gators - Beat ATM!
He almost always takes the option to hand off instead of keeping the ball and trucking a linebacker for five yards. They need to fear his physicality as he is perfectly capable.
I think we are all underestimating the extent to which AR is banged-up and the ease in which he gets banged-up. Not saying he's not tough, but this is a long season against fast, massive defenders
After watching what Dart and Ole Miss did to them last week, with the RPO option, I hope we come out with much of the same. Considering A&M has been battling the flu and our defense lack depth, I would like to see us sustain some drives and wear them down.
No, and we won't be the only school with an avalanche of transfers coming AND going either. Although we will absolutely have more departing than most, due largely to the relatively large number of noncontributors/locker-room problem types CBN inherited from the previous regime. It's going to be a little disconcerting for many to watch some pretty decent talent headed for the exits, but you can't make an omelet if you don't break some eggs.
