The issue was that we couldn't get out of our own way, and it cost us the game. Fix that and we'll be okay.
I agree. surely if someone was dedicated to coaching special teams we wouldn't have had the embarrassment of two players on the field at the same time wearing the same number. How anyone standing on the sideline or sitting in the coaches box didn't see that is unbelievable. Add in the fielding of the punt inside the five, missed FG, and the shanked punt and it's very easy to say that the lack of a ST's coach probably cost us the game as much or more as the failure to convert the 3rd and 4th downs.
It was later in the game, team had already had issue with lining up, don't even give them the opportunity.
That could make all the difference in the world in the Vanderbilt game. I'm going to go ahead and pencil in a "W".
I’m not sure anyone has expectations of Mertz being a guy that’s going to carry our team. More than likely, what he did is going to have to be enough. Fix all the other things and we can win some games.
Watching the half time updates and everyone' else's team offense looks so much faster than ours. Faster players, faster play of game, faster decision making.
I mean, all the plays have the same rules and players should know how to line up on every play. If they can’t even line up properly, maybe tgat play shouldn’t be called under any circumstance. The more I think sblout the last game, the more aggravated I get. They, like me, need to erase that game , move forward and decrease the brain farts by whatever means is necessary.
Damn Gary Danielson and Brad Nessler just took a light shot at us during the Ohio St-Indiana game for that double number penalty.
The deep pass to Pearsall was a perfectly thrown ball that would have been a huge play if Ricky hadn’t been held.
