But they caught on pretty quick imo. Outside of the first two drives I liked most of what I saw from them. The o line is just a different beast though, requires supreme communication and chemistry

It was Moten. Did you not actually watch the play and see the number? #16. He also whiffed on the QB run TD and that was about it for his snaps the rest of the game.

Thanks, just now hearing that for the first time.

The depth chart said otherwise and that was the very first defensive snap of the game so I figured the depth chart was accurate.

I thought the sense of urgency was terrible in the 4th qrt. Clock management was horrendous as well. With the new rules to speed up the game we had better learn what a 2 min offense is.

Billy is no Taggart. Taggart was under .500 (16-20 at WKU, 24-25 at USF and 7-5 at Oregon) before coaching FSU. He was 9-12 at FSU and 15-18 at FAU.

Billy was 40-12 at ULL before joining UF.

Mertz is a “meh” QB who won’t lose you many games but he sure won’t impose his will and talent to win you many either. Utahs defense knew they didn’t have to worry about him shredding them through the air with his arm or picking up yards running with his legs, which made planning for our offense much easier.

im not saying he’s Taggart, but his record is the same. Same with Kevin Sumlin and Jimbo at A&M. Records are the same but would you take Sumlin over Fisher?

Fisher has recruited better than Sumlin, but comes at a higher cost. Jury is still out.

As long as you are not focused on wins BN is an awesome coach.

If you mean from the player, yes I'm 100% with you. From playcall, couldn't disagree more.

And then we are in the same place we've been since Meyer. Who you gonna get that A. Is a proven commodity on the coaching and recruiting front. B. Will we pay through the nose for such candidate. and C. Will the UNIVERSITY and the Collective support that goal for national championships, SEC championships and beating our rivals into the dust.

Any ideas who that candidate is?

I’m 100% behind CBN and feel he will succeed but if we have to go in a different direction, option B is exactly what I wonder about too. Will UF be willing to shell out the big buyout of Billy and whoever the next coach is especially if he’s a big time name. Crazy because we’re in an era now where coaches leverage buyouts darn near more than their salary. Golden parachute

The question on the D is how they look against a first string team.
I would love to see the switch flip and dominate tinnerC. You know, keep hope alive

I see your point, but if guys cannot figure out how to line up, are they mentally challenged?

I'm still concerned about Metz...when the game was in doubt in the beginning and midway throught the third quarter he wasn't able to make critical plays. Even when we started the 2nd half down 17 to 3 the bomb to Piersall was not a great throw as it should have been an easy touchdown but Piersall had to adjust to catch it forcing him to go out of bounds. Mertz's best passes came when the game was 24 to 3 basically over. Unless he can make plays at critical times when the game is still in doubt I will stay concerned about our QB play.
