Insane what irrational fear does, mixed with guns. A pool cleaner that shows up after dark. Instead of waiting till he could see and determine what was happening, the homeowner opens fire When Polek returned to the pool deck, he used the flashlight to fill out paperwork, then turned toward the house to place the paperwork by the door. When Bradley Hocevar saw the flashlight moving toward the house, he opened fire. The audio from the 911 call reveals Bradley Hocevar fired two rounds through the sliding glass door. Polek ran away after the first two rounds, but the Hocevars could not see because the blinds were closed and they were taking cover behind their couch. The 911 dispatcher on the phone and Jana Hocevar repeatedly pleaded with Bradley Hocevar to put down the rifle and stop firing. But 47 seconds after the first two rounds, Bradley Hocevar fired a few more rounds. Finally, about 25 seconds later, Bradley Hocevar unloaded his AR-15’s magazine — meaning he fired 30 rounds in about 90 seconds, Gualtieri said. The pool guy obviously should have called. But The image of this guy and his wife hiding behind the couch firing 30 rounds thru their blinds and glass door … just crazy
I was looking for a previous post where I mentioned I was going to find a way to secure my pistol in my Jeep. I couldn't find it, so this seemed like the most appropriate place. I installed this over the weekend. Someone is going to play hell trying to steal my gun from my vehicle and use it for nefaious purposes.
I do keep the key it in and in the unlocked position while I'm driving around. I have a quick disconnect on my key ring and when I exit the jeep, I lock it and put the key back on my keyring. If I'm riding around with the doors off, I usually have my pew pew beside me next to the e-brake and return it to the safe if I have to leave the Jeep to go inside a store or anything like that. It's still accessible while I'm sitting in the driver seat, so that's a plus. I brought some foam liner stuff from work yesterday and plan on lining the drawer. A lot of the network equipment I order comes with dissicant packs, and I plan on putting one in there to help keep the moisture down.
"Some might assume that toddlers and young children may not be strong enough to pull a trigger, but that is not the case, experts said. At least 895 children aged 5 and under have managed to find a gun and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else from 2015 to 2022, according to Everytown. " Accidental shootings by children keep happening. How toddlers are able to fire guns. I think this can be addressed by having more guns lying around.
An EMT buddy of mine told me that toddlers often shoot themselves because when they can't squeeze trigger the normal way, they turn the gun around facing themselves so that they can use their thumbs to squeeze the trigger. That statistic is tragic.

RIP. I heard about that this morning. I know that victim's dad, we work(ed) for the same company. I worked with him on a couple of projects. He is an engineer that specializes in turbines and seemed like a really good dude. I helped on the networking side of things. I think he has since retired and took on a consulting role. I feel so bad for him. No one deserves to lose a son so tragically.
I'm a little morbidly curious about 2006 now. The US sets a grim milestone with a new record for the deadliest six months of mass killings NEW YORK (AP) — Slain at the hands of strangers or gunned down by loved ones. Massacred in small towns, in big cities, inside their own homes or outside in broad daylight. This year’s unrelenting bloodshed across the U.S. has led to the grimmest of milestones: The deadliest six months of mass killings recorded since at least 2006. From Jan. 1 to June 30, the nation endured 28 mass killings, all but one of which involved guns. The death toll rose just about every week, a constant cycle of violence and grief. Six months. 181 days. 28 mass killings. 140 victims. One country.
I’m headed to Bass Pro Shops today to check out handguns for my wife now that concealed carry in Florida doesn’t require a license. One that she can handle and keep in her purse. She has a 380 Walter PPKS that is too big for her to carry concealed.
