Exactly, they’ll be forced to defend the rim or it’ll leave 1v1 matchups. Haugh and Alexis at times can do some damage inside too
To my eye Condon is better receiving the ball a bit further out than the post and bumping the defender to get closer to the rim and then make his move instead of just getting a pass to the post and making a move.
Not up to the Gold Standard of the '04 teams but still very good. The most important thing that I am seeing is that everybody is unselfish with the ball. And everybody is willing to put in the effort at the defensive end. These were attributes of the back-to-back teams. Don't expect that kind of results because those guys were really REALLY good. and of course we have Seniors that can't come back as a unit for a repeat. LOL.
In today's world, all it takes is one wackadoodle judge to issue a decision that any college player can play for as many years as he or she can, for whatever someone is willing to pay. Who knows? Clayton/Richard/Martin are all borderline NBA prospects, so they might still be our starting backcourt in 2031.
I think our interior passing has been good, but our hi-low passing amongst the bigs has been atrocious. Lots of turnovers when our bigs try throwing the ball into the paint to another big from the top of the key. Condon and Haugh seem to have good chemistry on the court.
The announcer at the Virginia game said the Gators weren't Auburn and Alabama, but deserved top 10 discussion. I agree, UF isn't Auburn or Alabama. They have both been beaten and didn't look good in losing. I really like this team, maybe the best since the 04s, to be proven. What I don't see is a Al Horford who can dominate the paint on both ends of the floor. Chinyelu is good, but not that dominate Horford type of player. I like our guards better out to 4 deep. Our 3s and 4s seem to be on par with 04s. This team can and will go deep into SEC play and the NCAA tourney. These Gators just have too much firepower and defense not to succeed in a big way. Hope Golden can develop one of those bigs riding the bench if for no other reasons than to have an additional inside threat defensively and 5 more fouls to give.
Not saying he is the answer or anything like Horford, but I often wonder if Handlogten was available what this team would look like.
Who knows? But I'm glad Handles is taking the year off to get better. Everyone seemed to think it was in his best interest, including him. I just want him to work on improving his skills and getting stronger. He could very well be a beast next year.
Yes I’m also curious how he’ll look next year. 2 years is a long time when you’re in your early 20s, he could transform his game. One thing for certain is if he gets stronger and more skilled, at 7’1 he could very well achieve beast status.
We just need our front court to be solid and our guards to learn how to work together in crunch time of close games.

Wow, that’s the highest we’ve been in at least 10 years (when we tan the table in the SEC) And only 0.0016 separates the top 3 teams
