We have a very dynamic WBB team this year which will be great fun to watch. With the signing of three top rated HS prospects for next year we will be loaded for years to come. My question is who from this year’s fun team will be still be here next year as we become a powerhouse.
Of course we will have our five star freshman with a year of experience and all the juniors will be back, what of Kyle and Matharu? Both are seniors but do they get an extra Covid year? How does that work? If they are back we are gonna be something to watch. Please advise.

I think Kyle has another year of eligibility after this one. Her freshman year was at Purdue for the 2020-21 season in which they only played 23 games. She played a full season at Purdue for 2021-22, then for the Gators for 2022-23 and now 2023-24. So I believe she will have another year of eligibility if she wants to use it as a Grad Student.
Mathau's situation is a little more difficult to figure out. Her first year was at Mississippi State in 2019-20. They played an entire season, plus the SEC tournament before COVID shut things down cancelling the NCAA tournament. She played the 2020-21 season at Miss. St., but it was limited to 19 games due to the goofy COVID scheduling they did that year. She then transferred to Texas where she played the 2021-22 season. She transferred to Florida, but had to sit out the 2022-23 season due to the transfer rules and is now playing the 2023-24 year. My guess is that she has another year of eligibility as well, but am not sure.

I understood the COVID year was like it didn't happen for sports . . . but you only had an extra year or two, which stopped last year, to use it as an upperclassman and to not count it against scholarship limits. For those freshmen or sophomores during that year, I think they can still "skip" it.

Here are a couple of articles that should explain it but I don't have time right now to read them:

I have Dut, Correa, and Broughton as being last year for sure. I think the rest can use another year in one form or another... they all probably won't. I'd imagine a couple will transfer out seeing what is coming in playing time wise.

Yeah, from what little I've seen so far this season, albeit against weaker competition, there seems to be more talent on the floor. So we're going to take a step forward. Next season, with Kyle back, we'll be taking another step forward, maybe into the top quarter of the SEC.

Watching us against FAMU last night, I must say Laila Reynolds has already improved since the first game. She's going to be REALLY good next year, maybe even this season. She's got shooting, scoring, running, and defending skills that stand out, and it'll be interesting to see if she's ready for the much better competition FSU will bring.

Sure hope we can get Rimdal back for the FSU game. We need her 3s to fall.
