This is my biggest concern tonight. This was the cupcake team to give us an easy night putting things back right after losing to Oklahoma playing typical MW ball for the last ten minutes. And we didn't.
I think we all found fool’s gold early on. This is not a very talented team. They play hard but they are just not that gifted.
I think I found a greater upset folks . . . . "Alaska Anchorage, a Division II little engine that could, stunned then-No. 2 Michigan in a game three days after Christmas back in 1988. It was the first round the Seiko Classic Christmas tournament in Salt Lake City. Michigan was 11-0 and led by future NBA All-Star Glen Rice, but the Seawolves toppled Michigan, 70-66, in the same season the Wolverines went on to win the NCAA title." HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL!
99.12060301507538% of favorites like we were tonight win. So if your numbers are correct just shows how ludicrous the statement that it happens all the time is.
Texas Southern was 0-7 with 7 away games at Oregon, St. Mary's, Washington, Air Force, NC State, BYU and LA Tech. Washington and Air Force are not all that good, but the other teams are decent and had the home floor.
But it doesn't happen all the time. Per a poster in the other thread: Via @ESPNStatsInfo: Florida becomes the first ranked SEC team in history to lose to a SWAC opponent in the AP Poll era (since 1936). Ranked SEC teams were 51-0 vs. the SWAC entering Monday. Edit: Sorry, I see I'm way late with this sentiment.
Not winless teams. I’ve watched, participated in, and coached (combined) a few thousand games and cannot recall winless teams beating ranked teams.
We’re all upset but murph wants the same thing we all do. Be mad at the game not your fellow Gator. Hopefully the boys and CMW rally and have a good season
I don’t need him lecturing me on White. If that is what he chooses to do then I’m gonna respond to him. He can pump all the sunshine he wants but I will respond when his posts are guided toward me.
People keep responding back to me implying I said something I didn’t say. I simply said, “Came out flat and they came out on fire. It happens all the time, actually” and people reply saying that I’m wrong because 0-7 SWAC teams do not beat ranked SEC teams all the time… or some other kind of very specific qualifier that I never said. Look, a bad loss is a bad loss. Whether this team wore pink uniforms and the other team wore lime green is just window dressing. We can add this or that extra detail on the teams relative status going into the game, but it really doesn’t matter. We stunk last night and it was unacceptable. That doesn’t mean the season is lost and the coach needs to go.
It’s not ludicrous, because I said, “Came out flat and they came out on fire. It happens all the time”. What is ludicrous is how people changed what I said into 0-7 teams beat ranked teams all the time and then start tripping over themselves pulling out stats expecting me to defend a position I never took.
