Maybe just basic competence and not walking out of the stadium feeling awful 7 times a year? That’s Landry, Princely, Norman and I think one more DL- then Jackson, Williams and the Mississippi Kid- that’s 6-7 DL to say bye Felicia plus our DL coach… it SEEMS like a mess, right?
Green, I am conflicted by your post. I agree with your sentiment. At the same time, I feel really depressed. To see so many linemen walk away in a line of scrimmage league is very concerning. Sigh… time to get back into baseball and skip fall sports
Been thinking about this, who would UF be in the PL? First thought was Man U based on being great in the 00's, now not so much, but they have too much money. I'm gonna say Arsenal, minus the bounce back in the past 2 years. Big 10 is definitely La Liga, very top heavy, OSU and Michigan are like Barca and Real Madrid, Penn St would be Atletico. ACC would be Bundesliga, Clemson=Bayern. Big 12 is Serie A, has fallen off, but still some teams at the top that can compete with the best.
No coach= McClellan Gone Princely gone how do you keep kids and recruit kids like Slackman with no coach??? Looks as if urgency not there.
Haha but there will be plenty that will disagree it’s ok we still don’t have a coach for DL and DB. Lost 2 starter level guys so far. Again, simplistic Kids want to win and need to know the name of their coach.
Would like to know what the hold up is with the position coach hires. Signing day will be here soon...
Just wait until this mentally seeps into the NFL. It's going to be as pathetic as the nba is today since they destroyed CBB with the 1 & done rule. Sports in the next decade are going to be irrelevant for the exact reasons you stated.
ugh. I feel conflicted too. And I think a ton of Gator fans feel this way. We are so hopeful about Billy , said all the right things, rebuilt the infrastructure, ton of coaches, facilities, evaluators…. And at times - one facet of the team or another looks great… so you go “we’re so close!” I was in the stadium for FSU and that 1st half I was going bananas… then came the other side of the coin. Looking lost, discipline, lack of tempo or urgency, questionable play calling etc etc… And we’ve seen this movie before… for 15 years across 4 coaching staffs. I think it would be much easier if we were just told “hey - Florida is a high caliber academic school and we spend our energy across all sports and we are not gonna be a football factory like Ohio St or Georgia- “. Then we’d adjust our expectations back to like, when I was a kid and 9 wins had us honking our horns down University ave… But the confusion comes in for the fans that Stricklin, Nape, UAA STATED goal is winning titles and competing at the highest level and yet, we see things on and off the field that speak to the contrary. And then we hear “give it time, be patient, Urban left the cupboard bare, Muschamp left the cupboard bare, Mullen left the cupboard bare… Coach _____ really knows what they’re doing” But it just SEEMS like a mess. I get attrition and the portal…. But letting your DL coach go, right before signing day, who then is IMMEDIATELY picked up by a respected defensive coach at an SEC school? Seems like a weird move. But I KNOW what will happen- we will hire some people I get super excited about and by August I’ll be thinking “hey we could be pretty good… “ and by October I’ll be hearing “well, the team is young and this is their 1st year with this Assistant Coach “ etc etc lol
And if a player goes to the portal, loyalty is gone and it’s straight business from there. No favors.
