I saw a defense that started out well but as the offense kept laying a turd, I saw more missed tackles and more wide open receivers. They gave up and remember these kids are part of the old defensive regime and that takes time to remove the bad taste.
I need to know how much influence the unqualified Mr. 700 has on that side of the ball. He should not be doing anything but filling water pitchers and doing coffee runs.
He might have been under some pressure to retain Grantham from Stricklin, given Stricklin seemed to like Grantham.
Got dominated on both LOS and the defensive secondary looked like the three stooges. If there is talent in these area's they appear to be getting coached not to show it.
There are very few Gators left over from the Mullen era. Mullen had more players leaving for the NFL and for NIL's (in other states) than he could bring in. This is Napier's thrid season. Which means his three signing classes is made up of Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors. These guys make up at least 60% of the current rooster. Also, Napier did bring in a lot of players in via the portal for his three season. These players make up at least 25% of the roster. It is a safe bet that the 15% of the current roster are Mullen's playersbo. About 15 or twenty, and not all of them are on the defense.
We just lost at home by 24 points and looked horrific at all phases of the game and all coaching aspects. It was an utter disaster. A leopard doesn’t change his spots and neither will we. Sorry, trying to be realistic, that’s what I see. Let’s say the game went for another four quarters hypothetically. Does anyone think the final score of this fictional game would have been closer to 45-41 or 82-34? How about 95-31? We all saw it, we plain suck and the talent level was substantially better on Miami’s team. This will be a long, hard season.
We don’t have a decent defensive lineman or but a few on the offensive line that should even be on the field in the sec and you think we have the talent to win? Sure, we have lots of talent all over the field and sidelines but the line of scrimmage may be the least talented in the league. I’ve thought tgat all along and didn’t want to be a bitch about it but we got manhandled because of lack of talent up front on both sides of the ball. Sure, we can win by using some sts that we do have but no coach will win many getting their asses handed to them up front.
