Yeah I believe so. It seems to me he enjoys coaching and offense and is great at that, but doesn't enjoy managing an organization.
Your hate for CBN is blinding you to reality… Mullen was fading. He cared more about his cronies on his coaching staff than he did for UF. Keeping incompetent coaches/coordinators is about as bad as it gets for a head coach. His disdain for recruiting was catching up with him. He saved some classes with transfers and so many of his recruits never made it to campus. His 2021 class declined and his 2022 class was a mess before he was fired. All in all, and as has been pointed out in the thread, Mullen just had no interest in running a top program. He just wanted to coach the offense and let his staff do the rest. Then after some failed NFL interviews, he didn’t pay attention to the program. By the end of 2021, the team was a mess.
Anyone who quotes Mullen recruiting rankings automatically loses credibility. His classes were absolute disasters. Left huge roster holes and his talent evaluation was absolutely a joke. He won with McElwain's players then the team crumbled when they graduated.
Riddle me this, how long would it take Mullen to get us out of the same hole that Napier started in? Take into account staff, player personnel etc.
Kentucky is clearly a better team than they have historically been. Hopefully we move up the totem pole a bit this year.
If you think Napiers recruiting is on par with Mullen’s, either you’re not very knowledgeable or just clueless.
Its not hard, go look up the rankings. I don't make the rankings, they are what they are. Educate yourself before throwing out insults.
Mullen made a decent team worse. He will never be hired to bring a program up from the dust. He may get a coordinator job if he wants to work. He doesn’t seem to like hard work though.
Every coach who takes over for a coach that was fired starts in a "hole" and it's impossible to answer you question. Here are some questions you can answer: Why do you feel the need to keep making excuses for Napier? Just because he is the coach he deserves blind loyalty? Why does continuing to blame Mullen make you feel better about Napier?
Wasnt it for half the next season or so and then had another year of eligibility. Is that correct? Running him off was a mistake either way.
All that clown had to do was make adjustments to his coaching style and not rest on what he had done in the past. With that said just Go Away, Dan because no one cares what you think.
My research is based on actual recruiting rankings that all teams are graded on. That tells you a coaches ability to recruit players of a graded level of talent compared to other coaches. Yes, it's not perfect, but it has been debated hundreds of times on this board and proven that stars do matter. What you are talking about when you say "panning out" is developing players. Two different things. Agin, no need to hurl insults. Just try to express your opinion.
