Warm wishes from Dan Mullen

I agree DM needed to be let go, it was the right decision, however hiring BN was much like hiring Mac, success at a small school doesn't always equate to success at a larger school. UF is no place for learning on the job. My other beef is you give such a coach a long contract with tons of money. If he is a coach you want to take a chance on and if he is a coach that believes in himself, add incentives to his base pay. I don't blame BN for the contract, it's our AD that should feel the heat.

Listen, when a coach is fired usually there are major issues. Our issues here at UF is not unique. I can understand a rocky first year of a new coach, but back to back losing seasons where there is little or no improvement tends to not sit well. There have been major mistakes in hiring staff, on field blunders, and no sense of urgency whenever we are in a two minute offense. Frankly, it should gaul every Gator fan to see how far we have fallen. To be on par with Kentucky or Miss st is sickening. This is the year to turn it around, no more excuses.

 

Mullen had his chance. He was so damn stubborn that it ruined our 2020 campaign....wasted one of the most prolific offenses in school history with the diametrically-opposing defenses we've ever seen. Then add the dozen or so instances of where he and his team imploded on and off the field.

 

Sickening as a Gator fan we had the completely opposite problem regarding offense/defense with Mac/Champ. Just a mediocre offense with mac/champ or a mediocre defense with Mullen and we are talking hardware.

 

Everything was at its lowest when he was finally fired.

 

Because he stole millions of dollars from the Gators?

Well, Kentucky out of conference every year is Louisville and 3 cream puffs. They are guaranteed a 3-1 OOC record at minimum and many years 4-0 as Louisville is up and down program. Florida hasn’t scheduled 3 gimme win OOC games recently and with FSU never has 4 sure OOC wins on the schedule. I am sure the UF coaching staffs would have liked 1-2 extra wins every single year over the past several seasons like UK had.

True but until we start beating them on the regular, we are not 'on par' with them. Not sure if other teams are worried about us being on their schedule. But they are damn sure happy about it due to our Spurrier and Urban years. Need to start striking fear into the other teams.

 

Truth. He went 4-8 final season so he can't say "you fired me for this?"
