he's going to play, probably won't start but the day he steps on the field he will be the most talented player just needs reps
For everybody concerned, we would hope Mertz makes another leap, or at least has a good line in front of them and he’s able to do what he’s capable of doing. As far as lag Way, I think it really depends on how good he truly is. If it becomes obvious that he’s only going to be here for three years anyway, there’s no sense in redshirting. . Besides getting him into the game for development purposes, maybe or maybe not he is the short yardage guy that g Tebow was.
Until we see his players in their 3-4 year, we are watching youngsters and Mullen’s guys. If we can’t block in year four, tgat says a lot. If we don’t have a front seven that can keep a good running qb in check in year four, that’s all we need to know. Qbs and skill positions don’t always pan out. Lagway could end up being an average sec qb. As long as we are holding our own on both sides of the ball, we will be fine when the skill positions hit. The great qbs don’t grow on trees.
Praise in public, reprimand in private. Of course all tgat crap is coach speak when he talks to us. Privately I’m sure it’s a lot different.
I have to wonder if he has what Tebow had as far as short yardage. If he does, it’ll be a no brainer on 3rd and 1. His game may be a bit different though. It’ll be interesting no doubt. I felt bad a bit for Leak when Tebow would come in because the crowd went crazy but it’s really not all that. We support Mertz but I’m sure the roof will come off the first time Lagway punched one in after Mertz takes em down the field. Tim and Lagway are such good guys that I’m sure it won’t be smeared for the team.
Before the season started I expected a minimum of 7 wins... 8 was realistic and 9 was possible. Before the season started LSU at LSU and UGA were the only for sure losses that I saw. I had no idea that FSU and Missouri would come out swinging for the the fences. I felt that Kentucky and Arkansas were very winnable. I knew Tennessee would take a step back without Henden Hooker. And I felt we had USC's number and knew how to play against Rattler. Utah would be tough, but they lost tons of talent and they were playing without their star QB - Cam Rising. This all led me to believe we could win 9 games + if we played to our potential and the other teams stayed the same. That teams never stay the same, and we found out just how important we need big strong healthy lineman of offense and defense. And how much better we need to get year after year. And so... my only hope now is that get to a bowl game. If we can just find a way to beat Missouri.
By not addressing this (and special teams cluster) after last season’s failures, BN has cost himself a couple of wins that may have given him some breathing room. This class is vital and it has to stay together.
