Speaking of cracks, go look at DM’s classes again. Again, very short sighted on your part. Any rankings argument is extremely superficial. All due respect

Most of Mullen’s classes were at 9 while losing 1 high ranked player just before the season opener typically. So 11-14 let’s say. 2023 ranked 12, and 2022 ranked 17. So yes Billy’s classes have been on par. This year’s recruiting has been amazing and am very pleased even if 2 more flip it’s a top 7 class which is a big jump and you can see some improvement in recruiting. But to sit here and say napiers classes are better then Mullen’s is not true.

Couldn’t disagree more. Where’s the contributions and attendance level?

The way I see it is that current recruits who flip elsewhere will be replaced by portal players who have more experience.

FSU looks to be having a great recruiting class, but they’ll be true freshmen next year and not seasoned portal players like they have this year.

What would urgency look like, that it is so glaringly absent to you?

This notion that Mullen’s classes fell apart is a falls yes he had top players not make it on campus but to sit here and say that those first 2 classes (in comparison to Billy’s first 2) didn’t contribute is wrong go look at those classes most of those names stuck and played. If I’m wrong please show me and we can discuss. But there majority of the players stayed 3 years.

Superficial or not, the ratings are the ratings....I don't make them up. At this point we don't have the luxury of evaluating Napier's classes after the fact like we are able to do for Mullen's. Note that I didn't say that Mullen's recruiting was not deficient, it was.

He doesn't appear to understand that in order to be successful in installing the process that you tout as being necessary for ultimate success that you'll need a sufficient amount of W's during the journey to keep the hounds at bay. He touted bringing discipline and attention to detail with his army of assistants and still hasn't addressed the special teams which is in as much disarray 22 games into his tenure as it was in game 1. I could go on, but I'm sure you can find plenty more just by reading this forum.

From top to bottom—MIA, non/barely contributors, or SEC unfit:

    '21:
    Collier
    Del Rio-Wilson
    Black
    Wilcox (maybe, maybe not)
    Mugharbil
    Reynolds
    Thomas
    Borders
Elksnis (injuries but quiet at SC)
    Mitchell
    Bowman
    Newkirk
    Perkins
    Truesdell
    Boateng (RIP)

    '20:
    Pouncey
    Fraziers (ish)
    McDaniel
    Wilcoxson
    Helm
    Walker
    Goods
    Graham
    Mincey
    Lingard
    Reese
    Pouncey
    Keeter
    Meeks

2019 had its fair share as well, highlighted by Steele who was Dan’s highest rated recruit that year. The 2nd highest rated, Elam, was a legacy. Feel free to explore the rest.

    '18 was ranked 17th nationally, 6th SEC

You’re gonna have some hits with the Gator logo on your shirt, but there were just so many misses. His recruiting, at its best, was a facade. Plain and simple. Not much left to discuss there.

I don’t think you quite answered my question. Do you think winning games would show urgency? Do you not think he wants to win games? Do you think he likes losing?

I haven’t been to any of the practices, so I have no idea what he’s doing with special teams. Do you know for certain he’s not working on that?

Only for a select few teams. The vast majority are unaffected. It’ll sure be more I try than all the big heads sitting out.

I get tgat our oline and front seven can’t be coached around but special teams disorganization is puzzling no doubt.

Mullen had so many tgat never made it to the field or didn’t live up to their rankings. The numbers are similar on paper but his classes were way worse tge the fools gold he was selling.

Mullen’s ranking we’re devio superficial. Yes, it remains to be seen if Napiers classes pan out. They made it to class and practice so that part is better already.

No, of course not...but as he has said many, many times: "the process is more important than the Wins and Losses." To me that shows a lack of awareness that no one has unlimited time to install their system when he was hired to do one thing: win football games. IMO, his approach has shown little urgency to do that and it appears that he is still operating in the old pre-portal, pre-NIL (less so) paradigm. His forays into the portal have been so methodical as to miss out on promising athletes that might have helped the team. With the "army" in place they should be ready to move into the character evaluation phase the day a player pops into the portal (or whenever he tweets it, etc.).

I agree, but my point was just comparing rankings, its about even. You can't count this unsigned class, because we have no idea at this point where we'll land.

Napiers last class which was kinda his first full class had the highest average recruit ranking that we’ve had in a very long time. We only took 22 I think which kept overall ranking in the teens . We took so many from the portal, we didn’t have room for a full class. We probably need a significant number from the portal this year also.
I’m can’t remember the avg recruit last year but it was top 5 and Mullen never came close to that.
