Dude. Lagway wants to come in early for bowl practices. The extra practices are a big deal every year, but it’s especially huge this year.

 

I've been thinking about what I wrote earlier . . . and I don't want to mislead any of you guys since this is the recruiting forum.

It's not all unicorns and rainbows. If I left that impression, I'm sorry. We have some potentially troubling things we may have to face in recruiting as other programs are savagely negative recruiting our best committed players despite Coach being very honest with them about the up-and-down season expected with such a young team. So much so that we may have a hard time holding on to some of this class.

Someone said the best thing would be for the season to finish so the coaches can get in person and face-to-face with recruits.

 

We have to find a way to beat Mizzou….

 

Respectfully, what the fan-base does pales in comparison to the $shizzshow that UF is putting on the field. The fans see it. The media sees it. You don't think recruits and their families see it? At this point in his tenure the ONLY thing that the fan-base has to hang their hat on is the prospect (yes prospect...because based on results to date, his recruiting has been no better than his predecessor) of him being an ace recruiter that will build a foundation to work off of in the future.

It appears that the fundamental flaw in Coach Napier's "process" is that it is his lack of understanding that not just the administration needs to buy-in. It has to be the fans, current players, potential recruits, media, etc. He has shown precious few reasons for that buy-in to occur. The lack of urgency by this coach astounds me.

 

Either that or a very unexpected W in one of the last two contests.

 

Sad to say, but right now this is an extremely easy task for our opponents to accomplish. All they have to do is cue up our game tape and show our team looking like the keystone cops.

Thank you ET for giving me some much needed hope. I have not felt this low about Gator Football since Coach Pell was fired 2 games into the season. Been a tough two weeks

 

Possibly- what did you accomplish with your post except venting your frustration at a rebuild that is happening. Whether Napier will be successful or not is to be seen..but you are not helping..

we all said the offense is bad…now we scored a bunch the last few weeks. Now we think the defense is bad…isn’t it obvious that we are dealing with lack of talent, tough schedule and road games against better teams? The only way for this to improve is to give Napier a chance to be successful and raise the talent level. Otherwise we are looking at another 5 years of rebuild..

 

Confused. Did you miss the last three coaches’ last seasons?

 

To me before the season I expected to lose to @Utah Georgia and @LSU. Figured we'd win vs Charlotte, McNeese, and Vandy. And figured we'd split Tenn, UK, Arky, and SC (and Missouri, FSU). That's exactly what's happened to date. In hindsight the UT win looks good and the UK/Arky losses feel like a letdown. FSU and especially Missouri also look considerably better than where I would have projected preseason.

I also didn't expect Mertz to be such a force. The internet told me preseason we were going to run the ball 40 times a game, win games on defense, and Mertz was going to be an interception machine. Wow that mantra did a 180.

Some of the more negative posters, were your preseason expectations higher than that? If so, what were you thinking like 6-4/7-3 atm?

 

I said in the beginning 5-7 hoping for 7-6. Right now I hate to say it but I was right. I am not right all the time. I said. Daniels would get 300 yds passing and 100 rushing. I was 200 off.

 

Besides OL to a degree, completely disagree that recruiting hasn’t been greatly elevated. That’s short sighted IMO. That aside, who you hiring to come in and crush the SEC from jump?

 

Yeah, that's part of it but that's not the whole of it.

 

I wouldn’t say crush. The Lane Train has had quite a few college stops so far. Like him or hate him, I think he could be successful at Florida.

 

I’m with you ET and honestly think we will be just fine. Billy and team will finish strong in recruiting and I’ve already heard some good things portal wise that indicate a very positive move for the future.

I know I will be rooting with everything I have Saturday night for our guys!!

I think that can occur. We all know we just need one big positive right now and I can tell you we aren’t that far away.

 

Is it possible to add like the opposite of the smiley face for the reactions? Maybe like a sad little rain cloud?

 

Check the ratings. So far he hasn't signed a class ranked any higher than Mullen's. I really hope that is reversed this cycle, but cracks are beginning to show in the foundation of the class. 2 more ugly L's might split it wide open.
