Christie is an ass for even bothering Zelenskyy at a time like this. It’s a move that has zero value to either party and during a war, time wasted like this is poor leadership. At best, Zelenskyy should have sent one of his diplomats to meet Christie. It does underscore the duplicity and futility of this proxy war, however.

Especially since you have the nutjob wing of the party clamoring for the US to get out of Ukraine since there's no evidence Russia ever intended to invade a European country.

Christie is less flawed than most republicans. Zelensky needs as many friends in the Pro-Russia Republican Party as he can get. If they nose out the election Ukraine will find itself in the same way the Kurds did with Trump… sacrificed for a dictator’s benefit.

A missile production plant deep in Russia has experienced an explosion while testing a missile. The plant makes Iskander missiles, and is just west of the Ural Mountains (750 miles from Ukraine).

@uftaipan that’s a wrap. If there are two things Joe Biden can read, it’s the letters CNN and polling data. The only question now is if it’ll end in an Afghanistan type debacle where Russian overruns Kharkiv and Odesa before it’s over or will it end with a respectable deal which allows Ukraine to keep a port on the Black Sea?

I will say I don’t believe this. Russia has about four times the manpower (perhaps more) and I wouldn’t trust their defense spending numbers. They spend a shit ton on military. Ukraine is further disadvantaged by not having replacement level production at home, reliant on foreign aid to put up a fight. Alas, they are not good at war. Ukraine hasn’t won anything in this war. They’ve retaken areas that fell under Russian control, but Russia retreating from Ukrainian land they seized never equated to Ukrainian military victory or successes. That was always a fairy tale.

There are some irrefutable truths in that post that don’t necessarily mean one is pro-Putin by acknowledging said truths. The sanctions against Russia have failed. Their economy has been quite resilient, which allows them to increase replacement capacity for the war. I think the Biden administration overestimated their ability to cripple the Russian economy and had they known this ahead of time, may not have become so deeply involved in this conflict.

Secondly, there are many Western officials who are pissed that Ukraine took their aid and held back on the counteroffensive, which gave Russia more time to dig in and now it’s virtually impossible to penetrate their 1st line of defense. Add to that the Ukrainians have apparently had a difficult time adjusting their attack strategy to maximize its effectiveness.

Pointing out these failures and reality isn’t a pro-Putin position. It’s a pro-American position. We should not be wasting billions on a foreign war. We should not be funding a humanitarian crisis. Many assumptions were made in hubris up front that appear to have been very wrong. Ignoring that reality is an anti-American stance, because our leaders are spending billions of our dollars on trivial pursuits which are not turning out positive results.

100% disagree. We must defeat the Russian plague now or it will only grow worse.

Even if you believe “we must defeat the Russian plague now”, ignoring those realities are not going to help you achieve stated goal. What we are doing now and have been doing isn’t going to defeat Russia. It will, however, push Russia towards an alliance with China and it will further decimate what’s left of Ukraine. It will cost the American taxpayers billions more. We will have nothing to show for it in the end. Even Biden will recognize this and fold up shop before he gets us in too deep.

Disagree again. Russia was going to easily roll over Ukraine, right? F those fing bastards. Invasion of a sovereign country simply cannot stand.

My prediction; western support continues, Ukraine is supplied with more and better weapons, Russia folds like the cheap whore they are in the end.

Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know I was responding to an emotional person. Yeah, when you let your emotions run amuck like that, bad decisions can follow. I think you are going to be disappointed.

Unfortunately, Russia’s war experience speaks against your aspirations to see them exterminated.
