And that’s a simple matter of funding. No bucks, no Buck Rogers.

"Ukrainian foreign minister: Putin's nuclear readiness move attempts to put pressure on Ukraine
From CNN's Ivana Kottasova in Kyiv

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Sunday that Russian leader Vladimir Putin's order to put Russian deterrent forces on alert was an effort to raise pressure on the Ukrainian delegation at Monday's scheduled talks.

"As you notice, this order by President Putin came shortly after the announcement was made about the two delegations ready to meet. And we see this announcement this order, as an attempt to raise stakes and to put additional pressure on the Ukrainian delegation," Kuleba said a briefing in Kyiv.
Kuleba added, "But we will not give into this pressure" and said, "We will approach this talks with a very simple approach."
    ...
Kuleba said Putin’s decision "to put on high alert his nuclear weapons is a direct threat to us. I have very simple message. It will be a catastrophe for the world, but it will not break us down."

If Putin wants Ukraine as part of Russia, why would he threaten it with nuclear weapons? The answer probably is, he isn't threatening Ukraine, he is threatening NATO.

It is more than funding it is where these parts and chips are manufactured and where they come from. These are specialized components and you're not going to your local Radio Shack to get them. I will also add the US does not introduce new technologies into the battlefield until we have also perfected a means to destroy it.

This has intrigued me from the get go. I wonder about the backstory on that where that information comes from and how we are getting it. Do we have an asset or are we intercepting communications? I think there is likely one or more of Putin's advisors with a conscience who have turned on him over his decision to invade. And, if so, could there be a coup if things continue to go bad for Russia.

Interestingly, Israel is requesting permission to upgrade it's F-35s with Israeli-made equipment and has already made some modifications.

Let's hope their nukes are in as good of shape as their tanks and soldiers

(Laughs darkly) Mostly believable. Kind of doubt the part where Israel is requesting anything. At best, they’re telling us what they’ve done after it’s an established fact.

That or they tried it, failed/something didn't come out right, and NOW are asking permission so they get the technical help.

It could be Baghdad Bob for all we know. My other point is even though everyone expected this to be a cake walk for Putin I did not. If we are to use history as a point of consideration it took the US 28 days to take Baghdad. And yes we heard about demoralized troops etc.. and a ton of propaganda that did not sway the resolve of an Iraqi army to the bitter end. I don't think Putin sees this any differently.

Question: Isn't Putin threatening to use nukes a violation of the NPT? Weren't the USA, USSR & UK the original signers of that?

It’s going to take China to solve this I think. They are the closest thing Putin has to an ally and his only lifeline. Hey are the only ones who can talk him down.
