It’s a tool he says some mild that most won’t have an issue with the sets the hook with something outlandish (in this case no arms to Ukraine to protect themselves.which is manifestly stupid)
When this is finally over, of course Ukraine will arm itself to the teeth in case Vlad comes back for another round. It won't be because they are worried about being invaded by Poland or Romania.
I understand that on average, the manual loading system employed by the M1's can fire 2.5 rounds (even 3 with a great loader) to one (1) round from any Russian tank, including the mighty Armata. (You know the tank Russia likes to show off at parades but can't build in any quantity). This alone is an INCREDIBLE advantage on the battlefield.
To be fair, we don’t know how this will end, but this is the first time Putin has really gotten his nose bloodied, and he knows the west will hop back in if he picks things up again. So I am not sure his past actions will inform his future ones in the same way they have up to now. Not that he’s found religion or decency or anything, but from a self preservation standpoint he likely can’t go through this again. And that’s before talking about the segregation over time his military and economy are going to take.
Putin is a KGB wolf in sheeps clothing. Low level operative until the dissolution happened. He murders his opposition, the press and anyone percieved as a threat or an embarresment. This is an "Old-School" dictator with HATE on the agenda. Believes he is "ordained" (whatever the F that is) to "fulfill his destiny". That destiny involves KILLING a whole bunch of people, most of whom are innocent. IMO, there is NO MIDDLE GROUND, the sob needs lead, in his head, or he will not stop. If I was a Russian parent of teen or young adult boys I would be very PISSED OFF. He sees Russian youth as meat, no better than cattle stock.
Much to the chagrin of Murcans marinated in psychotic Russophobia, Russians solidly onboard with Putin.
That's their problem. If they piss off their largest customer, they'll come to regret that position. They have already made Europe queasy about doing business with a dangerous communist state. The real question is, can China reel in all the nationalism that they have been unleashing among their people?
I would have previously agreed but they’ve taken some very aggressive actions that are out of character, and that’s in addition to militarizing optimal locations on the seas to logistically feed their navy fleet and soldiers. It’s a look and feel that’s different than in the past, IMO.
Maybe he's suggesting that we need to make Putin sign the agreement in all capital letters, and then he would honor his agreement.
Of course they are. They just do a better job of controlling the media and the internet there, as well as jailing anyone that protests too much. Think the Uighyurs like the Chinese government (being forcibly sterilized, raped, and abused like subhumans)? Think the residents of Hong Kong like having their political freedoms taken away from them? Even wealthy college kids have taken to bathroom protests and blank paper protests. It's what they can get away with without being arrested. Even married women are making a conscious decision to not have children (that is kinda the ultimate non-violent protest against the government, don't you think?). Just because American protests are more out in the open, does not mean that we have more bitter division. Protests in the U.S. are generally legal, and will not get someone thrown in jail (because we have freedom of speech, which a professional troll of all things should be fully aware of). It must be hard going through life as the most gullible person in the room . . . in every room.
Under the "Okeechobee Capitulation Agreement" does the US get to keep Alaska or do we have to give it back to Russia? (asking for a friend.)
I think it is closer to 4 Abrams rounds fired for every three Russian rounds. The greater advantage is the range of accurate fire. And with the Abrams tank, old Russian T-62/72 rounds would score a direct hit and have trouble leaving a scratch. The Abrams tanks did not have difficulty destroying the Russian tanks in Iraq, given the 3300 - 33 kill ratio, with at most 1 U.S. tank knocked out of service by enemy fire (that tank has been under debate).
range and targeting mechanism are such that the Abrams can take out the other tanks before they even get within range of being able to fire back is my limited understanding. that and the abrams can take hits the others can't
The M1A2 SEPv3 (enhanced package) is arguably the most advanced tank in the world. It has MANY features that outclass the Russian MBT's. The Russian Armata is for magazines and trade shows. They can't make many of them and as recently as last night I watched a podcast that indicaed they STILL cannot make the turbine driven power plant. Combine that with the war, supply problems and other technical difficulties and it's not even a playable piece on the combat chess board. At least not yet.
Russia unleashed a barrage of missile today, including hypersonic ones, suppsoedly in retaliation for an attack in late December within Russia that there were never much details on besides a possible refinery fire. It doesn't seem practical tat is all that happened if it was the reason for this round of missile attacks. Russia fired rarely seen missiles and wildly unpredictable ones that Ukraine's forces can't stop in deadly strikes across the country (msn.com) Russian forces carried out a massive missile attack against Ukraine on Thursday that included both rarely seen and wildly unpredictable missiles that Kyiv's defenses can't stop. Ukraine's military said Russia fired 81 missiles and eight Iranian-made suicide drones at cities across the country, leaving multiple civilians dead and injured. Kyiv's air defenses managed to shoot down 34 cruise missiles and four drones, Ukraine's defense ministry said. Another eight missiles missed their targets. But others made it through Ukraine's formidable defenses. Among the missiles that were fired were 28 Kh-101 and Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles, 20 Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles, 13 S-300 surface-to-air missiles, eight Kh-31P and 6 –Kh-59 guided missiles, six Kh-47 Kinzhal missiles, and six Kh-22 missiles, according to Ukrainian state media.
I watched that documentary about that big tank battle between the Republican Gard and the US in the opening stages or GW1. It was an absolute slaughter. One of the captains of the M1 was laughing saying, the RP were MANUALLY rotating the turret of their russian built junk with a hand wheel cranking device while the Abrams were busy pumping American heavy metal into every Iraqi orrafice on the battlefield. He advised it really was like shooting fish in a barrel. No contest, ZERO!
