Bad news, friend. MacDill is the HQ for Central Command and Special Operations Command as well as some conventional Air Force stuff … but nothing that would make the first-strike list as far as I know. So unlike the good people of DC, Omaha, Colorado Springs et al, unless it comes down to an ELE type exchange, you’re going to have to suffer through Planet of the Apes with the rest of us.

Destroying the enemy is a form of winning, even if they don’t occupy.

I guess. Hard to imagine Putin invading Ukraine to simply destroy the enemy. This has been going on forever. Georgia, Crimea, now Ukraine. Putin wants to rebuild the Soviet Empire IMO.

LOL, the US has military in practically every nation in the world.

    But Russia is rapacious.

This, and what he does not conquer he wants to fall into the Russian sphere of influence. His cronies were not kidding when they were spouting off " from Lisbon to Vladivostok".

True, but same narcissists still have to rely on others to execute the scorched earth for them. And other people, no matter how loyal normally, can become unreliable when presented with such doomsday orders. Hitler is a great example. When he gave scorched-earth orders for Germany in the final months of WW2, his people said, “Ja, Mein Fuhrer!” and ran out of the room. When they got out the room, they said to each other “Yeah, we’re not doing that. Just tell him what he wants to hear.”

Not that we can necessarily count on Putin’s generals to do the same.

Oh well I’m sure it will be on the second strike and I have no interest in living in a world after global thermonuclear war. I would imagine that scenario only exists with India Pakistan, to a lessor extent NK (we’d probably annihilate them at tell the world to go themselves between us and them, and even less so a terrorist attack.

As long as China understands that there is no scenario where Russia would be allowed to nuke us without China getting a presumption of collaboration in the matter, China should be our very, very bestest buddy in deterring Moscow from such a course of action.

For all our efforts to weaken Russia, so as to focus on China, the Russia-China alliance has never been stronger.

It’s the US that needs to mind its p’s and q’s.

Love those with the attitude of:
"Had to destroy the village to save it"

Russian generals must be a tad freaked right now. Longer range weapons are changing the calculus

Russia 'Likely Concerned' Over 'Unexplained Explosions' In Important City, UK Says (msn.com)

Now, the MoD says there have been at least 14 explosions heard around the city since February 21, including at an ammo cache at the airport, fuel depots and steel works which are used as a military base by Russia.

Mariupol is at least 80 kilometres from the current frontline.
    .........................
Similarly unexplained explosions were previously been heard in the Russian-controlled peninsula of Crimea, a Ukrainian area which was seized back in 2014.

Although Ukraine did not openly take responsibility for the strikes, it was seen as a sign that the war dynamic was changing because the attacks were so far behind the frontline and Crimea is strategically important for Russia.

I’ve heard conflicting reports on whether we have or in the process of providing artillery that goes 300 miles. That would severely limit Russia’s ability to carry on military RE supply. Get er done:)

Perhaps all the "Russia must use Nukes" blather is about normalizing the idea so when the false flag "tactical nuke" is pulled they think it can be blamed on Russia and they can get American moms and dads lathered up to send their sons and daughters to die in Ukraine.

Once again, it actually makes a difference whether you are invited to be there or you barge in uninvited. Just like it makes a difference whether your military is killing local citizens or providing some measure of security for the country. Anyone who has fallen off the proverbial turnip truck can understand those differences--why can't you?

Belarus saboteurs (a.k.a. Hoganski's Heroes) pull a fast one on Russia, destroying one of its most important aircraft (an A-50, similar in general appearance to an E-3 Sentry or AWACS). Sgt. Lukashenko explained to Colonel Putin-Klink, "I know NOTHING!"

The Battle for Bakhmut has become a fixation for both sides. Some real military history happening there. Ferocious comes to mind.

Oh Ambassador, please tell Li that any launch on the Russian Federation is accompanied by an equal, if not more numerous launch into your great country.
