Yes he has a history of making poor no good very bad decisions. As his fear of loosing power grows along with thoughts on his mortality and legacy (fueled by what ever malady he has) those decisions get consistently worse. There’s a non zero chance he uses a tactical nuke in Ukraine for example.

“Russia has 6,000 nukes. Would they use nukes ? Why wouldn’t they use nukes ? I’ll bet they’ll use nukes. They’re gonna use nukes!”

The troops have already been committed. NATO troops are already in the Baltics now, including US troops. We made that alliance with them for this very scenario. Are you suggesting Putin thinks we'd retreat from the Baltics on his personal whim?

As you say. Defeat Russia in Ukraine, and we will never have to find out what Russia’s long-term plans are to re-establish sovereignty over the Baltics.

But since the US is being defeated in Ukraine, watch the US/EU/NATO alignment wobble as the world goes multipolar.

Belarus opposition members used drones to attack the AWACS of Russia, the SU - 50 surveillance plane, on a runway in Belarus. Hopefully the sabotage of Russian equipment staging and operating out of Belarus accelerates

Russian military aircraft blown up near Minsk: Belarusian partisans (msn.com)

Belarusian anti-government activists have claimed responsibility for what they said was a drone attack on a Russian A-50 surveillance aircraft at an airfield near the Belarus capital of Minsk on Sunday.

"Those were drones. The participants of the operation are Belarusian," Aliaksandr Azarov, leader of Belarusian anti-government organization BYPOL, was quoted as saying on the organisation's Telegram messaging app and on the Poland-based Belsat news channel.
    .........
The Beriev A-50 aircraft, which has the NATO reporting name of Mainstay, is a Russian airborne early warning aircraft, with airborne command and control capabilities, and the ability to track up to 60 targets at a time.

Since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine a year ago, there have been several acts of sabotage in Belarus and in Russian regions bordering Ukraine, especially on the railway system.

No. I have not. I took your silly notion and asked if you thought that was okay? What Putin will do is an unknown but I do know that if he swallows Ukraine his appetite won’t be sated.

Yeah, I don’t think an attack on NATO would happen in the current world. But Russia taking Ukraine changes the calculus a lot. I think they hope that it forces some other states hands in regards to Russia longer term.
Which is all the more reason standing up to them now is important.

Let Ukraine do the fighting while we provide support. It’s cheaper that way and saves American lives.

love this. hope it goes viral to russian diplomats around the world. wake them up to air raid and explosion sounds so they too can wake up to war as long as their leader wants to occupy foreign territory. I would contribute for some throw away bluetooth speakers to allow it to be done covertly instead of getting arrested, or worse.

A Norwegian guy woke Russian diplomats in Oslo after 2 a.m. with an air raid siren on the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine (msn.com)

A 73-year-old in Oslo gave Russian diplomats a rude awakening by blasting a siren outside their bedroom windows on the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, according to a local report.

On Friday night at around 2.30 a.m. local time, Kjetil Krane carried a loudspeaker out to an apartment block known to house workers at Oslo's Russian embassy, Nettavisen reported.

Standing in the freezing cold, Krane played the sound of a Japanese foghorn, which bears a striking resemblance to an air-raid siren, according to the outlet. Over the past year Ukrainian civilians have had to shelter in fear during Russian air raids, which frequently strike residential areas as well as military targets.

Krane told the outlet that he wanted the diplomats to wake up over the issue of the war, both literally and figuratively. In a poster he distributed around the neighborhood ahead of time, and pictured by Nettavisen, he gave advance warning and reassurance about his actions.

Moldova in the cross hairs via a coup supported by a pro-russian oligarch and sabotage teams sent to help sow discord

Moldova expels 2 foreigners caught in 'destabilization' plot (msn.com)

CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — Moldova’s intelligence agency said Monday that two foreign nationals who posed as tourists have been expelled from the country and banned from returning for 10 years after they were caught carrying out “subversive actions” to destabilize Moldova.

The Intelligence and Security Service, SIS, said in a statement that the pair were trained in data and information gathering “for the implementation of a plan to destabilize the internal situation in the country,” to provoke what it described as “violent change" to Moldova's constitutional order.

The SIS did not state when the foreign nationals arrived in Moldova, which countries they were from, or for whom they were allegedly working.

The agency said the pair carried out subversive actions that included investigating “various locations near government offices and critical infrastructure," and that they were coordinated “from the shadows by a group of individuals affiliated with a conspiratorial network of overseas political technology and social engineering experts.”

Pro-Russia party holds protest in Moldova amid coup fears | Financial Times (ft.com)

Demonstrators took to the streets of the Moldovan capital of Chișinău on Sunday, demanding the removal of pro-west president Maia Sandu after US and European officials raised concerns about an alleged Russian plot to topple her government. The protest was peaceful and smaller than previous demonstrations held last autumn.

It came, however, amid heightened political tension in Moldova following fresh warnings of a security threat to the nation of 2.6mn people, which borders Ukraine and Romania. Transnistria, a breakaway Moldovan region, is already under Russian control. US secretary of state Antony Blinken, who met Sandu in Munich at the weekend, said Washington was alarmed by “some of the plotting that we’ve seen coming from Russia”. Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy this month claimed that Moscow was planning to remove Sandu. Last week, Sandu said that Russia planned “the use of people from outside the country for violent actions” in Moldova.
    .............................

The protests in Chișinău have been organised by the pro-Russian Șor party, putting the spotlight on party leader Ilan Șor, a Moldovan oligarch strongly supported by Moscow. After being convicted in 2017 for his involvement in a massive bank fraud in Moldova, Șor has sought refuge in Israel. The US has put Șor on a sanctions list and he is the target of a fresh anti-corruption investigation in Moldova.

Ahead of Sunday’s protest, Moldovan police searched the homes and detained some members of the Șor party, as part of an investigation into the party’s illegal funding of the protests, according to the public prosecutor’s office.

Putin's Former Adviser Who Denounced Ukraine War Dies of 'Serious Illness' (msn.com)

Gleb Pavlovsky, a prominent Russian political scientist and longtime adviser to President Vladimir Putin who then became one of his most prominent critics, has died at the age of 71, according to local reports.
    .................................
He told RFE/RL's Georgian Service in April 2022,only weeks after the conflict began, that Putin made a grave miscalculation by invading Ukraine. His decision made "no political sense," Pavlovsky said.

"This is all Putin's own personal decision. Nobody other than Putin would have made it...," he said at the time. "Nobody, including myself, realized just how maniacally obsessed he must have been with Ukraine. We underestimated the extent of decay of the Russian government."

Prigozhin Sends Ominous Threat to Russian Defense Minister's Son-in-Law (msn.com)

Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin threatened that the son-in-law of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu should be assaulted and hit with a "sledgehammer" as the rift between Moscow's military elite widens.

Prigozhin, the head and financier of the Russian mercenary group, threatened to have men bring Alexey Stolyarov, 33, to him so he could be trained to fight in Ukraine. The Wagner Group has played an active role in the war and has claimed responsibility for taking swathes of Ukrainian territory.

Stolyarov, a blogger and influencer, has avoided the military draft in Russia and is the partner of Shoigu's 32-year-old daughter, Ksenia Shoigu.

Prigozhin, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's most high-profile associates, made the comments on the VK social media site of his company, Concord in response to questions by the media.

I think the chance of a tactical nuke in Ukraine is essentially zero. You don’t nuke a place you want to occupy. You might nuke the people supplying their weapons though.

Of course then, if you are Putin, you have to ask yourself if a nuke strike against the west is worth a cruise missile in your window

Putin make poor decisions and goes scorched earth all the time. I do think they’re zero chance he nukes us, he’s a pussy and if he does, oh well. I live 4 miles from MacDill as the crow flies I’ll go in a flash of light. You might suffer but if you have a handgun that will go quickly too.

If it’s the only way he can “win”, I wouldn’t be so sure. Narcissists like to go scorched earth when they don’t get what they want.

Depends on what “winning” looks like to him. I always supposed that to be occupation of Ukraine. Can’t occupy something that’s glowing. Maybe his idea of winning is something different?

Putin has zero need of nukes in Ukraine. He’s beating the US, I mean Ukraine the good old fashioned way.

And it bears mentioning that our own Murca is the only nation that has ever used nukes in anger.
