Vladimir Putin backfires. Members of the State Duma standing behind him claimed that it didn't smell that bad, as they turned red-faced from holding their breath and hanging noodles from their ears. Opinion | Vladimir Putin's Big Backfire
Another elite Russian infantry unit wiped out in Vuhledar. Satellite pictures claim to show elite Russian unit 'destroyed' around Vuhledar
To be fair, they are two totally different scenarios and probably shouldn't be used for comparisons/analogies. Hitler bit off way more than he could ever chew, by taking on all of Europe, North Africa, the Soviet Union and the United States. Putin is trying to conquer essentially enough of Ukraine to ensure total neutrality with respect to any possible NATO alliance in Kyiv. Time will tell if that is too much for Russia to chew, but they're not trying to invade and occupy dozens of countries, including several superpowers at the same time. Part of Hitler's insanity was thinking that could ever work out well for him.
People: “Ha-Ha! Russia is losing in Ukraine!” Same people: “Do you actually believe Putin is going to stop at Ukraine ?”
Probably more so now than ever before. He has seen the cost of the operation in Ukraine and would be less inclined to push the envelope further. Perhaps Moldova, but Moldova is the poorest country in Europe and landlocked, so not much to be gained there by Putin strategically. He's not going to invade the Baltics, which would spark a direct conflict with NATO. So yes, most likely, he's stopping with Ukraine and probably not even all of Ukraine at that.
There are some videos of NATO and much USA heavy armor and mobile artillery rolling into various NATO ports. An impressive display of American mobile logistical equipment and firepower. mil3010 on You Tube
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. The Ukrainians welcomed the Nazis thinking there could be nothing worse than the Russians. They learned they were wrong about that.
Seriously are you doing this to antagonize people to maximize ad revenue based on views. You are a quisling. I mean that as being a follower of the scumbag the word is named for not as the perjorative it has become.
Honestly, all of the Russian pronouncements seem to be for internal consumption. That is what makes me wonder if things are not as copacetic for the kleptocracy as the polls show.
Of course the writer is marinated in Bad Man Putin, but she demolishes the narrative that ordinary Russians don’t support Putin ... Do ordinary Russians support Putin's war?
Russians aren’t stupid. They read the same news we do. They know that Western economic sanctions are designed to make their lives miserable. And they know that Western arms shipments are mean’t to kill their loved ones.
One issue is that most of the younger people who really oppose just move out of the country. What is left either supports what’s going on or is too complacent or risk averse to do anything about it.
Russian IQ is significantly worse than that of the first world. I think it’s because most of the mothers are alcoholics and drink heavily during pregnancy and soul crushing oppression. The US isn’t so great either which I blame on abysmal K-12 education in Red states as well as our electoral system which gives them undue influence. Fortunately at least for now true power remains in the hands of “elites” so we make fewer poor decisions as a country Countries by IQ - Average IQ by Country 2023
You only lasted two sentences before you offered up another victim to Putin. It's hard to take you seriously if you can't put out 4-5 sentences before you concede a second victim to Russia's expansion.
Don't think things through much. Maldova shares a border with Romania, a NATO member. That's enough reason for Putin's ambitions.
