I do think there is a difference between returning the fire at people who are shooting at you and sending missiles and artillery into areas largely occupied by civilians.
Not sure how they stop that without air support. Maybe we can relay intel on its location. Afraid end of the day Russia is too much for them. After russia overwhelms them go into the next phase which also costly, occupation.
There is more to geopolitics than simply winning international public relations battles. PR, narratives, cosmetics...that is what the Democratic party is all about. Yes, it is a bad look for Putin, but it is also a bad look for Biden. The actual results of an authoritarian regime invading another sovereign country matter too. We are a little over 1 year into the Biden presidency, and the embarrassments of Afghanistan and Ukraine both belong to Biden, his handlers, and his party. Taiwan's fate looms large now as well.
This is very true. The Chechens were notorious for their bravery against the Russians. And what's left....I don't even know.
The main reason Russia is invading is because they believe that Ukraine is joining NATO. Better to have a landlocked half without much of its best agricultural lands to join, with a buffer zone in between. Also, what remains of Ukraine would be a mess, and the West would be obligated to spend an enormous amount of money to help take care of the refugees and prop up the weakened Ukrainian state. Then they'll probably mix some Syrian refugees in and create even more issues.
Of course there is and no one is disputing that. There was no question from the beginning that Ukraine was out gunned and out manned. Given the facts just because there is a difference doesn't mean it is going to stop or that the Russians are going to use what is at their disposal. Whether or not this turns into Thermopylae and some heroic epic will be debatable.
That's the one the Russians claim was from Ukranian anti-aircraft on the street. You know because it's obviously coming from the ground.
I came here to post these tweets but the timing couldn’t have been much better. Literally Kadyrov’s right hand man was killed in Ukraine.
Opens with “There is more to geopolitics than PR spin!” Concludes with paragraph of empty spin that would make Tucker blush (well, ok... not really… it’s basically the obligatory party line).
From CNN live. Russians now claiming US likely are helping. "Pentagon denies Russia's claim that it's "highly likely" US used surveillance drones to help Ukrainian navy From CNN’s Nathan Hodge and Vasco Cotovio in Moscow and Oren Lieberman at the Pentagon The Pentagon has denied a claim from the Russian Ministry of Defence saying it is "highly likely" that the United States used some of its surveillance drones flying over the Black Sea to help the Ukrainian Navy attack its vessels. “On the evening of February 25, during the evacuation of 82 Ukrainian servicemen who voluntarily laid down their arms from Zmeiny [Zmiiny] Island, 16 boats of the Ukrainian Navy, using the 'swarm tactics,' tried to attack the ships of the Black Sea Fleet,” Russian defense ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said in a statement on Saturday. “During the attack by Ukrainian boats over the provocation area, US strategic unmanned aerial vehicles RQ-4 'Global Hawk' and MQ-9A 'Reaper' were overhead.” “It is highly likely that it was American UAVs that directed Ukrainian boats at the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet,” Konashenkov said. Pentagon press secretary John Kirby denied the claims",
