Nah, nah, nah, man. Russia just held, like, special plebiscites in the occupied regions wherein the people — including the occupying soldiers, of course — overwhelmingly voted to join Russia. /argument
Election denier uses as data base 31-32 year old events. Writer tosses and turns nights, rousted from sleep by the spectre of the old Soviet Union.
Ukraine is continuing to kick Russian ass all over the battlefield and is expanding the fight to Russia and Crimea now. Love this little sneer… Other officials mused that Russia’s compounding losses are Ukraine’s gain. “The Earth is round—discovery made by Galileo. Astronomy was not studied in Kremlin, giving preference to court astrologers,” Volodymr Zelensky advisor Mykhailo Podolyak wrote on Telegram Monday. “If it was, they would know: if something is launched into other countries’ airspace, sooner or later unknown flying objects will return to departure point.” Explosion at Nuclear Airbase Just 150 Miles From Moscow Opens Stunning New Phase of War
Ukrainian pin pricks vs. Russian hammer blows. Meanwhile, Russia strikes deep into the heart of ... North Carolina ?
Just a reminder that, if people who hate you want to hit you, they don’t need high-tech weapons. And sometimes your military can do nothing to stop them ...
So Russia claims it shot down drones but the debris killed 3 and wounded 4? Okay... What is striking to me is just how close Kiev and Moscow are. Only 470 miles apart, less than Miami to Atlanta Ukraine war: Russian military airfields hit by explosions - BBC News Russian air defences intercepted Ukrainian drones over two military airfields in Russia, hundreds of kilometres from the border between the two countries, Russia said on Monday. Falling debris from the unmanned vehicles lightly damaged two aircraft, a defence ministry statement said. Three Russian servicemen were killed and four injured in the incidents in the Ryazan and Saratov regions. Long-range strategic bombers are believed to be based at the airfields.
Ukraine Update: As winter cold freezes the ground, Ukraine has options Really good write up on current strategic points on the front for Ukraine in the coming months. Recommend the read to get up to date on this stuff. Will be really interesting to see if Ukraine keeps up the pressure when the freeze sets in.
Hungary may have the only lucid leadership in the West ... Hungary will not train the Ukrainian military on its territory, because the country is committed to peace, not war. This was announced by the Secretary of State for Bilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Tamas Menzer.
Hungary is committed to cheap oil & gas. They know they are somewhat protected by being in NATO (certainly, more protected than Ukraine is), and they can afford to be selfish for now. They will change their tune if and when Russia starts massing troops on their border. Fortunately for them, Ukraine is doing an excellent job of protecting NATO.
Reality denier cites election taken at gunpoint and with bribes offered as evidence that occupied regions of Ukraine enjoy being occupied and being polled at gunpoint by invading troops. Hilarious.
Yep. don't doubt for a second that Putin would not do the same damn thing to all of us if he had the means and opportunity to do so.
An E.U. embargo of Russian oil and the G7’s price cap take effect. Europe and the United States started enforcing on Monday two of the toughest measures aimed at curbing Russia’s income from oil, the principal source of cash used to fund its nearly 10-month-old war in Ukraine. The first measure, a price cap initiative led by the United States, sets a top price of $60 per barrel for Russian crude, and was endorsed by the Group of 7 countries, Australia, and the European Union. The second is an embargo that prohibits European Union countries from buying most Russian crude as of Monday. It was a step that the bloc had agreed to months ago but that was phased in with exceptions to prepare member nations.
Orban puts his people first and they love him for it. He has resolutely resisted Russophobic hysteria. Ukraine is demilitarizing NATO. NATO weaker than it’s ever been.
Borrowed from a tweet: The West owns the global oil tanker fleet. It also controls associated services like maritime insurance and letters of credit to finance shipment. China and India depend on Western ships if they want Russian oil. They wouldnt be able to circumvent the price cap, even if they wanted to...
