Finally, Russia is able to overcome their embarrassment at being unable to provide uniforms to draftees and they are now proud to be able to provide them with real military uniforms! "Don't worry about hole in jacket and red stain--that is a good luck mark of uniform. Check pockets for signing bonus."

Russian conscripts in Luhansk Oblast given uniforms belonging to killed and wounded soldiers

If this doesn't give draftees confidence in their military, I don't know what will.

Ukraine says that Russia only has enough missiles left for three more large attacks on Ukraine.

Russia's missile potential running out: enough for only 3 massive attacks left sources

Thinking about how Ukraine on this very day seven years ago destroyed part of the electrical grid to start an energy blockade of Crimea out of spite and a lot of people in Lvov and Kiev posted funny memes and had the time of their life reveling in schadenfreude

Regional leaders telling Putin no more consciption

Russian regional leaders wrote to Putin demanding he stop mobilizing reservists to fight in Ukraine, as chatter about a second draft intensifies

    • Local Russian leaders wrote a letter to President Vladimir Putin, urging him to end the mobilization of reservists.

    • They said the possibility of a second draft creates "increased anxiety" among their constituents.

    • Officials have said the draft is "complete," but the letter asks Putin to codify this with a decree.
Regional leaders in Russia have written to President Vladimir Putin, urging him to declare an end to his mobilization for the war in Ukraine, amid chatter that that the Kremlin may call up even more reservists.

Interesting viewpoint from a Russian marine. Bear in mind, the article suggests this is a professional, regular warfighter … so not necessarily as elite, motivated, and patriotic as one of the 300,000 conscripts ripped away from their families and professions and about to descend on Ukraine like a hurricane of steel.

Russian marine says "deserting" Ukraine front line only way to stay alive

Western reportage a case study in projection. To wit: conscripts ripped from their families ? That would be Ukraine.

There is a difference when you are defending your country/homeland from invaders vs being the invader.

The vast majority in Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye would disagree with you. They’d say they were happy that intruders are methodically being ejected from their ancestral lands.

Best gift ever. Not at liberty to share who gave them to me. Will wear with pride even if they clash. Will post the other pair of socks separately. Picture size limitations IMG_20221125_144503976_HDR~2.jpg

If you find one, please post a link to how you buy those socks. I’m going to buy a LOT of those as Christmas gifts.

Or they will never speak of it again under threat of imprisonment. I would not assume freedom of speech in this case, until someone gives Putin the Shiny Bullet Award and speaks the truth first.

They might *shrugs shoulders.* Americans still carp about being defeated by rice paddy farmers. That was nearly a half-century ago. And this is just Russia winning slower than some people expected.

I thought this was interesting: Russia apparently had the best indirect fire system in the world, but they couldn’t bring it to bear, because mass operator error.

Russia’s High-Tech Artillery System Was Supposed To Win The War In Ukraine. But Troops Didn’t Know How To Use It.

Of course, to buy that theory entirely, you’d have to explain away why they had such great artillery and fire direction … but their aircraft suck, their armor sucks, their logistics suck, their force protection sucks, their intelligence sucks, their navy sucks, and so on and so forth.

If the Russian military was worth half a damn it would be just outside of Trenton, NJ by now.
