do you believe the destruction of a power plant, a dam, a water/sewer pant is analagous to blowing up a bridge?

Do you think that the bridge could have been a false flag operation by Wagner or Chechen warlord to convince Putin to go after civilian infrastructure? Kind of like when Putin dropped that apartment building full of Russian soldiers to justify the Chechen war

Russia fires their generals for underperformance. Our incompetent generals retire and go to work as sales reps for weapons manufacturers.

When Ukrainian troops go backwards they’re repositioning. When Russian troops go backwards they’re fleeing.

Poor Russian conscripts under fire from BOTH directions, underfed, under-armed, under-trained, but at least they're not like the Baltic Fleet..... underwater.

While not the most credible source the Daily Mail is much closer to being the British equivalent of the NY Post than the National Enquirer and in the case of Russian troops on the frontlines in Ukraine its story is consistent with other sources.

NY Post equally bad. FWIW, I am not informed by Russian sources. Rather, I ascribe credibility to Western sources not shot through with prior hatred for Putin/Russians.

Reminds me of the "Under Eisenhower" condition of British troops in WWII. ;)

have to wonder if sacrificing all these conscripts is a way to try and get the russian population to hate Ukraine more than they hate Putin. wishful these conscripts would be surrendering in droves

John Helmer is Australian and is the longest-serving independent Western journalist in Russia. He reckons that the devastating and unrelenting attacks, on Ukraine’s energy grid, is Putin asking the West if it’s tired of proxy war and wants to come in and play ...

“North American experts on infrastructure warfare believe the Russian strategy is to intensify the pressure on Washington, Warsaw, and Berlin to decide if they are willing to take over the direct war-fighting as the Ukrainian resources are being exhausted – replacing air defences, artillery, electricity supplies and equipment, fuel, troops, and advisors. “There’s a logistical limit for NATO to fight to the last Ukrainian”, one of the expert sources observes. “It’s not to the last Ukrainian who can be put on to the battlefield. It’s to the last volt to get him there, supplied with food, fuel and ordnance.”

Black Sea Fleet. Russia has not crossed the line, yet, to lose its Baltic Fleet.

Wow, lots of those dead likely didn't want to be there.

Putin hammer blow: Ukraine ‘has killed 13,000 Russian soldiers this month'
Ukraine killed almost 13,000 Russian soldiers last month, the country's defence ministry has claimed. Meanwhile the UK Ministry of Defence has suggested Russian President Vladimir Putin is becoming increasingly reliant on ill-trained, ill-equipped, raw recruits eight months into the war.

The eye-watering total amount to 12,730, averaging more than 400 personnel a day. It brings the total death toll among Russian troops to at least 71,200 since February 24, the day Putin ordered his invasion, according to Defense of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence's official Twitter page, which shares daily updates.

A further 950 soldiers were killed on Sunday, according to the unverified figures, with Volodymyr Zelensky's forces making dramatic gains across Russian-occupied areas as they close in on the key southern city of Kherson.

Defence HQ, the MoD's Twitter feed, today said: "Russia has deployed several thousand newly mobilised reservists to the front line in Ukraine since mid-October. In many cases they are poorly equipped.

A Russian ship sunk seven months ago. So Russia lost the war.

There, I fixed it for you.
Saratov — On 24 March 2022, a Russian Navy Alligator-class landing ship that was docked in Berdiansk, Ukraine, caught fire. The Ukrainian military claimed that they had hit it, that it was destroyed and that it was the Orsk.[13] Later the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces claimed that Saratov had been destroyed.[14] Two other Russian ships, the Caesar Kunikov, and the Novocherkassk, that were docked nearby sailed away, with fire and smoke billowing out of one.[15][16][17] On 2 July 2022, Russian official said the ship was scuttled back in March by its own crew in order "to prevent detonation of the on-board munitions by the fire that had started" due to a Tochka-U ballistic missile that hit the port. Also it became known that Saratov has been salvaged and will be towed to Kerch, Crimea.[18] Moskva — On 13 April 2022, two Ukrainian officials said that the Slava-class cruiser had been hit by Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missiles and was afire in heavy seas. The Russian Ministry of Defense said the ship was seriously damaged after a fire caused a munitions explosion. The next day, Russian officials said that the ship had sunk while being towed to port.[19] 5 Raptor-class patrol boats — On the first week of May, Ukrainian forces using Bayraktar TB2 drones attacked five Raptor-class boats near Snake Island, it was not known the extent of the damage.[20][21][22] At least one of the Raptor boats withstood the damage and was filmed in Sevastopol for repairs.[23] Serna-class landing craft - On 7 May video appeared of a Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 drones hitting and sinking a landing craft on Snake Island.[24][25] Vasily Bekh — On 17 June, Ukraine claimed to have sunk the rescue tug (Russian: Спасатель, "Spasatel") Vasily Bekh with two Harpoon missiles causing it to sink shortly thereafter.[26] Shortly after the sinking on 21 June, British military intelligence confirmed the attack, stating that the vessel sunk was almost certainly Vasily Bekh.[27] Ivan Golubets Project 266M minesweeper - On 29 October, Ukrainian forces used Unmaned Aerial and Submarine Vehicles to strike Russian forces in Sevastopol, Crimea. According to Russia Ukrainian UAVs slightly damaged the minesweeper.[28]

The British said: "The only problem with Americans is that they are oversexed, overpaid, and over here."
To which the Americans replied: "The only problem with the Brits is that they are undersexed, underpaid, and under Eisenhower."

I was referencing all the "unders" from the original post I quoted. Tried to make a joke. It was only funny to me, apparently.

It's war, man. I don't blame Ukraine for blowing up that bridge. From my understanding, the Ukrainian government didn't deny their involvement, which was another way to accept responsibility for the attack without formally accepting responsibility. But I do not care that Ukraine did this.. they are at war, it's to be expected. You're too stuck in this tribalism thing where it has to be all "Ukraine good, Russia bad." There's no reason to be defensive about the bridge. It was in Ukraine's interests to blow it up and I don't have a problem with them doing so.

As for Russia doing it as a false flag, I suppose it's possible, but again, Ukraine all but took responsibility for the bridge blow-up, so why would I just assume it was Russian self-sabotage?

Not tribal, empathy. Marauding invader bad, homeland defender good.

Do you think attacking electric, water, sewer is war on enemy or war on civilians? Should Ukraine be attacking electric grids, water/sewer plants in Russia?

Not defensive of the bridge. It appears that is what pushed Putin to increase the targeting of civilian infrastructure the way Wagner and Chechen's prefer to wage war so there is reason to believe it was a false flag op that achieved its objective. I doubt that Ukraine had the op resources to carry out such a strike
