As I stated earlier Ukraine was under Soviet control until the collapse. What everyone thought would be a major governmental change for Russia was pie in the sky. Even after the collapse many didn't want democracy and preferred the old Russian rule. Even Gorbachev couldn't convince Russians to accept a democratic government. Yet he was on the right track in working on relations with the US. Which was basically leave us alone and we will leave you alone. Same as we feared Russia and the Cuban missile crisis. You think we would allow Cuba to arm themselves with the latest of weaponry now? As is any missiles headed for the US need to traverse an ocean short of a submarine launch. Even so hyper sonic missiles in today's world are just as much a threat. In all of history humans have attempted to annihilate perceived threats for survival. Today is no different.
At least the Russians aren't trying to hide their intentions anymore. Look closely, that is a Soviet Flag on that tank.
Not at all. There are no excuses for what Russia is doing same as there are no excuses for the US does. We all recognize right from wrong whether or not you can do anything about it is the question? Understanding why Russia is doing this is important don't you rhink?
What are people doing that say our lack of resolve/toughness or failures of leadership put us in this position?
You may want to reconsider this, you are on the same page with me. Might lose some street cred around here.
Interesting that he used the term “territorial sovereignty” and not National sovereignty. I’ve noticed that before coming from the Chinese. I don’t think it is a slip of the tongue.
Thanks for the warning but street cred has nothing to do with it. If you don't understand the problem you cannot solve the issue.
According to The Times of Israel, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Israel’s ambassador to Russia to ask him why Israel is supporting the Nazis in Ukraine.
I just saw that Ukraine wants Israel to mediate any discussion with Russia as it is “uniquely positioned” due to its strong relations with both countries to serve as a mediator.
Right and not understanding the process abilities of different types of oil is irresponsible and just crude
Putin was offered the opportunity to engage in diplomacy. He has tried to strengthen his hand first by killing a bunch of people and gobbling up some territory. Having adversaries with weapons on his border is a legitimate concern. However, they are there because Putin can’t be trusted, as he has just proven. Of course, the U.S. has not set a great example by invading Iraq, but that was for an entirety different reason, even if it was a crappy reason.
Some perspective in Putin's claims to be denazifying Ukraine. https://www.haaretz.com/world-news/...ed-at-putin-s-denazification-claim-1.10632913
