Meh, you said "the Ukraine." It's Ukraine. No "the". And I think you are giving a beleaguered Russia (post-Soviet breakup) way too much credit. Americans have always had sharp political differences. Most of this is due to the two major political parties successfully making it a 50/50 dog fight every election. The idea that Russia (who couldn't conjure a coherent strategy in Ukraine) is smart enough to change how Americans think is pretty laughable, if you ask me. You are giving the Russians more credit than Trump ever did.
I do agree with that in principle, but on balance I fully support arming, training, and advising Ukraine as long as they are willing to fight right up to the January 2014 borders.
I see this as finally sending in sufficient men to meet the challenge, which is to say that Russia appears to have awakened to the fact that the West is all-in and that it is, in effect, fighting 25+ nations. As to the Vietnam analogy, I’ve made the point and again to contend that, in the analogy, Russia is actually Vietnam. It is now defending its own territory and has a quasi-unlimited supply of men and weapons.
Cute. Russia illegally annexes part of Ukraine and claims that it's defending it's own territory. Reminds me of Hitler's annexation of the Sudetenland. Russia's annexations in Ukraine echo prelude to World War II in Europe
Well we know what would be happening without the aid by investigating what happened in the occupied areas, and it is much worse than what is happening with the aid. All it takes for evil to prosper is good men to do nothing. These Ukranian people are fighting for their country and their freedom. How anybody can question the aid is beyond my understanding.
Sweden will be in control of the nord stream investigation. Pipes ahve quit leaking and deep sea recovery vessel is on station. Sweden sends special diving vessel to area of pipeline leaks (msn.com) COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Sweden has sent a vessel capable of “advanced diving missions” to the Baltic Sea area where ruptured undersea pipelines leaked natural gas for days, the Swedish navy said Monday. Last week, undersea blasts damaged the pipelines off southern Sweden and Denmark and have led to huge methane leaks, with the Danish and Swedish governments saying that several hundred pounds of explosives was involved. The leaks occurred in international waters. Capt. Jimmie Adamsson, a spokesman for the Swedish navy, told The Associated Press the vessel — a submarine rescue ship — had been sent to at the position of the leaks off Sweden and was supporting the Swedish coast guard, which is in charge of the work.
I pretty much agree with you, but saying "how anybody can question" sending billions of dollars worth of military equipment to Ukraine is taking it a little too far. We should absolutely be allowed to ask questions, as the US taxpayer is the one footing that bill. I can't think of anything more un-American than not being able to ask questions and even challenge where billions of taxpayer dollars are going. Especially, when it involves funding a war effort in a foreign country.
“maybe 140 dead Russians. Like hunting squirrels in a pecan orchard….I came away shaking like a leaf, not scared, just wired and sick of killing people.” Awful. What a colossal unnecessary loss. All because of Putin. I wonder how this all might be different if they had a free press….
I find it interesting how the Kremlin is making these mad dashes toward these farcical "elections" then having to abandon the same ballot boxes in strategic towns and locations within days..........
So this is funny. There is bad language in this tweet, so take the space out of http to see it. ht tps://twitter.com/VeraMBergen/status/1576989980999970816
It seems like Russia is making a lot of stupid, costly blunders in the field. I wonder how much of this is NATO intelligence directing the Ukrainian military on where to deploy, vulnerable targets, etc. It feels like Ukraine have lulled Russian troops into traps without an escape. Feels like they're getting plenty of help from Western intelligence.
The no confidence vote on Liz Truss has very little to do with Ukraine. Quoting that famous political philosopher James Carville, "It's economy, stupid".
