We haven’t fared well there even when we were mobilized for ark building. Far better, far cheaper, far fewer millions killed, had we ceased meddling.

maybe. It’s far to simplistic to make that judgement. And outside the scope of this thread.

Well, the reason it will never happen is that we’re way too far in with way too many jobs and way too much money to lose. So, as long as the US can keep shielding the public, from the psychological effects of proxy war defeats, I expect them to continue.

Brought to you by Kotex, reluctant sponsor of the Russian “special military operation.” 8D32DF98-4BC3-4553-8468-506C33CB52BD.jpeg

I thought it was Russia that was running out of weapons ...

"I’m greatly concerned. Unless we have new production, which takes months to ramp up, we’re not going to have the ability to supply the Ukrainians," Des Roches told CNBC.

Europe is running low, too. "The military stocks of most [European NATO] member states have been, I wouldn’t say exhausted, but depleted in a high proportion, because we have been providing a lot of capacity to the Ukrainians," Josep Borrell, the EU’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, said earlier this month.

You have made one of your rare correct statements: the U.S. needs to ramp up arms production to sustain the maximum number of Russians killed, wounded, captured, and demoralized. Thank you for pointing that out. I will write my congressman today.

There is no doubt that production needs to be increased and not just because of Ukraine. unfortunately I don't see that happening and at this point it is highly doubtful the US could mobilize in the same fashion we did in WW II. The Liberator Willow Run Henry Ford plant produced 1 bomber an hour. Building the plant is a story in and of itself as well.

I hope your congressman isn’t Josh Hawley. He wants to divert billions meant to kill Russians to kill Chinese instead.

Ukraine Said To Have Mauled A Russian Fighter Regiment, Shooting Down A Quarter Of Its Crews
Thus the steep losses in the 559th BAR should come as no surprise. Russia is losing Su-34s far faster than it can replace them. The Russian air force ordered its first batch of 32 Su-34s back in 2008. A second batch of 92 followed in 2012. The Russians as of 2021 possessed around 122 Su-34s in several regiments including the 559th BAR. Now they’re down to no more than 108.

Zelensky growing increasingly frustrated that his hundreds of thousands strong army has failed to accomplish little of note, this despite the fact that Russian troops in Ukraine had been drawn down from 80,000 to 50,000 as of August.

That is indeed a tough call. The problem with killing Chinese, though, is you’re just left unsatisfied, wanting to kill more 30 minutes later. Better we focus on Russia until and unless China makes its move. All due respect to the honorable congressman, of course.
