I don’t think you understand quite what he’s doing. He’s not trying to deflect responsibility as much as make excuses for why a country that Russia was suppose to decisively defeat (and already be consolidating inside Moldova) is instead getting its teeth pushed backwards, resulting in the embarrassing and unthinkable move of having to undertake national mobilization. It’s much easier psychologically to tell themselves they’re “fighting NATO” than admitting they’re losing to a country they were supposed to push over with contemptuous ease. But like I said, losing is losing. Putin et al can whine and cry about having to fight NATO when they aren’t. Maybe some Russians safely in Russia buy that, but their army knows what the deal is.
Some of you are so taken in that Liam Neeson couldn’t save you. Premises ... Someone’s brother has a friend who said that they heard that some Russian said they expected to take Ukraine in three days. Here we are, seven months later, proof that Russia is losing. The Russian military is incompetent because it’s troops are low morale and under equipped and can’t get out of its own way. At the same time, it’s unspeakably cruel as it is in the process of destroying Europe’s army twice over and savaging a generation of Ukrainian men. Ukraine’s mass-conscription of old men and women is a sign of resolve, whereas Russia’s partial-mobilization of experiences troops is a sign of desperation. The world was going swimmingly until Feb 24, 2022, when Vladimir Putin woke up angry and decided, for no reason, that he wanted to take over some s***. The US does not have a long-standing history of meddling in the affairs of other countries and instigating proxy wars and it’s [insert countries here] own damn fault that millions of its people are dead so they can be prosperous and free and wearing Air Jordan’s because Murca!
im ok with some of your other attempts at arguments but everything you’re saying here is bs. Russia invaded a sovereign first world country. The first such war in decades. None of this was necessary. We are here because Russia pulled the trigger. Period. No one forced them to do anything.
Putin has escaped to his secret palace in a forest amid anti-draft protests in Russian cities, report says
So you're saying that because the US invaded Iraq in 2003 under false pretenses, Russia should a get a free pass for its invasion of Ukraine. I would concede that although we do have a long history of intervention in other countries primarily in Latin America to protect the interests of American corporations that still doesn't justify Putin's invasion of Russia. Also, the last time the US invaded another country for the purpose of annexation was the Mexican War in 1846, Russia did so in February 2022. I guess you can add Hawaii around 1880 or so.
All I’m saying is Americans blasting *other* countries for invading other countries is uproariously hypocritical.
Cute but this picture from the Finnish border actually shows Russians leaving to avoid Putin's draft. Or the border with Georgia Or Kazakhstan And let's not forget this: Flights out of Russia sell out after Putin orders partial call-up
Apparently Russians already in Putin's military have also decided to purge themselves. Another sign of Putin winning? Russian troops deserting in face of counteroffensive: Ukraine You sure Putin approves of "self-purging"? Russia stiffens penalty for desertion; replaces top general New law putting deserters for 10 years in prison introduced in Russia
Russia better than US in every way. Ex: their liberals don’t just threaten to leave. They actually leave.
now you’re getting it. But in all seriousness you don’t get to invade a first world European country for the purposes of annexation and then blame everyone else or deflect lol. Comparing this to anything the us has done is laughable
Let’s talk about how “taken” you are with some of your premises. And I’ll just stick to the military aspects since they are a bit harder to weasel out of than, say, moral arguments about how Russia’s invasion is no worse than the many U.S. interventions in Haiti. And I’ll further neck it down to the air domain; we could spend pages talking about gooned up Russia’s land operations have been, and no point at all discussing the hapless Black Sea Fleet. When “history began” this February, it began with Russia having at least the third best Air Force in the world and an integrated air defense system (IADS) that was absolutely impenetrable by the West, envy of the civilized world, etc. The performance of both has been staggeringly bad by any measure. Oh, sure, you’ll drop a “Ghost of Kyiv” snark as if that gets you a point, but even in that hopeful fiction was a larger truth: Ukraine’s Air Force was not easily beaten as projected, was actively fighting back, and was getting confirmed air-to-air kills against Russia, a feat thought very unlikely before “history began.” So a couple of righteous kills were erroneously attributed to a single pilot instead of among several, under circumstances where a nation had a burning desire for heroes. Happens all the time. Just know every time you snicker “Ghost of Kyiv,” I snicker right back that the kills were real even if the man wasn’t. You know you can’t reasonably explain why Russia still does not own the skies above Ukraine, so don’t even bother. Even if you want to suggest that NATO is flying secret missions (they aren’t), you won’t be able to explain why the vaunted Russian IADS has “whipped those NATO tails” and put some shot-down pilot on TV. The Russian Air Force inability to coordinate with ground and maritime forces was again inexplicable and directly causal in Russia’s early disasters trying to execute combined-arms operations, such as the failed air assault at Kyiv Airport. Those poor Russian paratroopers — top-tier professional soldiers, not disgruntled conscripts like those on their way to the front now — got on their radios to call for close air support as Ukrainian forces closed in and chewed on static. Integrated air-ground operation is the opposable thumb of modern warfare, what separates the professional from the poseur. We have now learned that Russia has no opposable thumb. So snark all you want that we don’t understand Russia’s real timetable or real objectives. Maybe we don’t today. But we certainly did when “history began,” and we made a show of telling the world exactly what you were going to do and how you were going to do it. Yes, your operational security was that bad then. Oh, and then you didn’t even modify the plan after we made it clear that we had given it straight to the Ukrainians. Genius. Backed the right horse, you did. No doubt about it. But go on about “Ghost of Kyiv” et al. I look forward to more of you and Russia equivocating the next round of embarrassing, deadly military defeats.
Almost all of the confirmed air-to-air kills by Ukraine were attributed to the Ghost of Kyiv. *follow with meme*
So when did the US last annex the territory of another country by force or for that matter another country in its entirety? Just asking.
