Seems somewhat naive, but I’m not sure what’s a “bad look” about it? It’s exploring diplomacy. I don’t think massive troop buildup viewable on satellites is exactly secretive info that we gave away the game on. If anything, the Chinese were probably aware or had their own imagery. The Russians surely already knew we knew, etc. Seems like we’d want to raise it with the Chinese, if for nothing else but to test their response.
Ukraine putting up a fight also I didn't realize who the Mayor of Kyiv is (Vitali Klitschko) I'd pay to see him and Putin in the ring together and watch Putin get stomped Ukraine says it has inflicted one of Russia's heaviest ever day of losses with over 1,000 casualties | Daily Mail Online
We didn't have much trouble with Iraqi tanks during Desert Storm and they primarily were either Russian or Chinese.
Two points of contention here. 1 - Former President Trump has no influence over Putin or the White House and the current administration as to what the US or NATO nations will do or plan to do. 2 - Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book! Put yourself in Putin's shoes for a moment and look out to the landscape he sees. Unlike Washington D.C. that sits on our eastern shore it is protected by miles of ocean and and relatively safe being surrounded by allies to the north and south that have no intention of invading the US. Putin sees armed borders at his doorstep and the Ukraine becoming part of NATO puts those armed nations much closer to Moscow. In today's climate that is unacceptable and Putin is driven as are all totalitarian governments to protect their own.
Thats great. Except there is 0.0% chance of an authorized invasion of Russia coming out of NATO. All it does is take these NATO allied nations (particularly former Soviet satellite states) off the table for Russian conquest. Putin, through these actions, has only intensified the justification for NATO. Some see this as a miscalculation on his part.
Yeah, total screw up letting that intel fall into Russian hands. Russia probably had no idea where their own troops were.
Thanks for the link. Not much to see in the few minutes I looked but good to see the internet is still working.
Except NATO or no other country has threatened offensive actions against Russia so any paranoia is exactly that
*sigh* really? You don't see the issue? Pretty sure just showing Russian positions versus, I don't know, planned courses of action, Ukrainian positions, etc is an issue. Because you think that wasn't discussed between the US & China to get China on board, and that China didn't turn around and share the info with Russia, then I don't know what else to tell you. It was stupid. Maybe, and that's a hard maybe China stays neutral but there was ZERO chance they'd help the US. When I talked about possible Kremlin pressure to China my thought was that they were looking to stay out of not join the west against China's ally.
