The guy was also 72 years old. While I put nothing past Putin, I would also not necessarily rule out that a man his age really might die by falling down stairs. It happens all the time.

As expected you do not answer a simple question and it is YOU
that sounds very much like Neville Chamberlin -

"The US, NATO and Ukraine do not have a favorable resolution given Putin's stance on the matter. At this juncture your wishes and hopes along with everyone else's does not matter when it comes to Putin."

So your answer is to kiss the A_S of a totalitarian bully ............ got it.

Thats all the answer I needed to understand your position.

Does the US find itself on the horns of a dilemma ?

I suspect that the immediate referenda are the game changer, more so than adding 300,000 troops.

To date, the focus of the US has been to attrit Russian forces by ‘defending Ukraine against Russian invasion.’

Such ‘defense’ including ousting Russian forces from the Donbas, Kherson and Zaporozhye.

But if these regions become a part of Russia within the next few days, ousting Russian troops will be considered, by Russia, as an attack on Russia.

Is the prepared to invade Russia ?

And that's where you're wrong my answer is to find the most amicable solution as possible and end this war for the benefit of all. Would I like to see Ukraine restored. Yes to a point but that doesn't mean it will happen.

Now if we are going to go whole hog into this my answer would be quit pussy footing around and take Ukraine for ourselves. Do not rely on Ukraine to put their house in order.

Why would I advocate that? Russia will nake attempts again and again regardless of who is in power. History proves this out and if we are to stamp out such governments we should stamp out Ukraine's government as well and occupy Ukraine. Ukraine and it's corrupt government will flip on a dime they have proven this time and again.

Zelensky capitulated to war-mongers and brought his country to ruin. But it’s not too late to stand up to the US and UK and salvage the better part of Ukraine.

Oh, you mean like the Coalition “invaded” Iraq by ejecting their army from Kuwait? Iraq also “annexed” the territory it had conquered by force in 1990, and that had the same effect on the world that this Russian “annexation” will have, a collective eye roll. That is simply amazing that you think Russia simply saying territory is now theirs makes it so. Russia decided to settle the matter by force of arms, so let’s settle it by force of arms. Whatever the peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine states at the end of this is what will matter, not your sham annexation.

In 2015 something like 98% of Crimeans seized that region by force and annexed it to Russia. S*** happens and you need to roll with it.

I hope Biden doesn’t go into election denial if the Donbas and other regions elect to join Russia.

After all, hasn’t it long been the aim of the US to spread democracy to the world ?

Interesting to watch: if these regions elect to join Russia, and Kyiv starts breathing threats of invading the regions, will Nancy Pelosi hop on a plane to express solidarity with the New Russians ?

Thank you for answering the question,
    that's all I was asking.

Good to know your not a lackey for Eastern European thugs and criminals.

In war, one must eventually take a side and a stand.

Of course Ukraine is corrupt but I have a suspicion their values may be evolving a bit.

I am under no illusion about where Czar Putin and his lackeys are coming from.

I think it's time for the West to call Putins bluff, he is, after all, the one doing the Saber Rattling.

As far as nuclear annihilation, that threat is not going away until Russia decides to join
the clear winner of the cold war and the world economic system...or not.

The West has bent enough, this trend of Putin aggression may be expected to continue into Western Europe and Finland
    should he retake Ukraine.

I know the above does nor properly address the "Real-Politik" of the situation and current realities, but for me it's a clear choice - Western Democracy with all its warts or a World dominated by Totalitarian Thugs.

I will take the Warts over the Thugs, everytime.

We humans should consider the consequences of allowing military industrial complexs to control huge amounts of capital, economics and brain power, dedicated to profit and human behavior modification, AND allow madmen the capability, access and means to annihilate human civilization and much of the EcoSphere of this planet. It's not just humans that live here.

It bespeaks of the absolute tyranny and selfishness of humanity.

Americans liked Russia. Until they were instructed not to ...

“Most Americans are oblivious to the reality that Western media are owned and operated by the same corporations that make massive profits by helping to stoke small wars and then peddling the necessary weapons.

Corporate leaders and Ivy-mantled elites, educated to believe in U.S. “exceptionalism,” find the lucre and the luster too lucrative to be able to think straight. They deceive themselves into thinking that (a) the U.S. cannot lose a war; (b) escalation can be calibrated and wider war can be limited to Europe; and (c) China can be expected to just sit on the sidelines. The attitude, consciously or unconsciously, “Not to worry. And, in any case, the lucre and luster are worth the risk.”

Fixed the opening sentences for you.
Americans liked Russia. Until they were instructed not to Vladimir Putin's expansionism became obvious. First, when Russia invaded and annexed part of the Donbas and the Crimean peninsula in 2014 and much more so when Russia launched a second massive invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 with goal of replacing the elected government with a Russian puppet government and in the process committing war crimes and intentionally attacking civilian targets on a massive scale.

You're not going to take Russia / China / North Korea and host of other nations off of the table. Until that is possible the only way out of this mess is to co-exist.

As for Ukraine the only reason their values are changing now is because they need help to remain in power. Once this is settled they will go back to their corrupt ways. Play nice to get what I want which is let someone else pay for this war.

Well, don’t worry. We’ll help correct that situation, too, before this is all said and done. My guess is, after they have taken back Crimea, the Ukrainians won’t have any problem engineering an overwhelming vote to rejoin. And you’ll just have to “roll with that.”

Though, by the time we get to that point, Russia will likely have much larger problems and be longing for the days that their chief gripe was Ukraine preferring Western Europe’s company to Russia’s.

But until then, you have me feeling a lot better about the Tennessee game this Saturday. Naturally, I want to win it on the field, but if things don’t go our way, it’s reassuring to know that the UF Student Government can just, like, vote us a few more touchdowns for the big win. I can’t wait to go on to some Vol websites and trash talk them about how we legally outmaneuvered them and they just have to “roll with it.”
