Ice, it seems that the skis are bringing more weight and metal to the conflict. My biggest concern is Ukrainian numbers. It seems to have turned into a bloodletting campaign. While stories of ski soldier defections and Public apathy are encouraging, a drawn out, extended affair may not weigh in Ukrainian favor. I suppose the winner will be determined by some form of political intrigue or coop attempt by one side or the other, unless of course the conflict escalates to other nations.
They're so much bigger that the numbers were going to be in their favor. It was equipment given to Ukraine combined with sanctions but it's been too spread out, too much wavering (Germany), etc and the momentum is getting lost. I don't know that we'll see a coup...not enough people who could do it care about it right now. Maybe in a few more months but Russia's economy is holding on unfortunately so they're not feeling the amount of pain needed to force a change.
The Saudis have made up with Qatar and is holding talks with Iran in Iraq, Turkey is making nice with Egypt and signing gas deals with Russia, the UAE is ignoring American threats to withhold F35s and buying Chinese weapons. There's a whole lot of realignment going on in the middle east. Some of these developments are almost unthinkable just a couple of years back. They're preparing for a changing world order, one where the US pivots away from the ME toward Asia, if we can ever actually stop getting distracted along the way, that is.
