Ugh can't do that on my phone though.

Wonder why this just started 1-2 days ago for me though? No updates, no changed browser, etc *shrug*

    Oh well.

Twitter and linking images has been my one sole complaint with Gatorcounty over the years. Sometimes it’s a little better than others but it is constantly a worse experience than every other board i frequent regarding posting/viewing those items.

US preparing to approve long-range rocket system for Ukraine - CNNPolitics

"The Biden administration is preparing to step up the kind of weaponry it is offering Ukraine by sending advanced, long-range rocket systems that are now the top request from Ukrainian officials, multiple officials say.

The administration is leaning toward sending the systems as part of a larger package of military and security assistance to Ukraine, which could be announced as soon as next week.

Senior Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, have pleaded in recent weeks for the US and its allies to provide the Multiple Launch Rocket System, or MLRS. The US-made weapon systems can fire a barrage of rockets hundreds of kilometers — much farther than any of the systems Ukraine already has — which the Ukrainians argue could be a gamechanger in their war against Russia."

Russian soil should not be out of bounds, especially strategic targets with command and control, weapons depots, major parts of infrastructure (rail bridges), etc. past time to start fighting this war on their soil

As long as it’s Ukrainian fingers pulling the trigger, I tend to agree. It’s Russia that wants to do the man dance. And a man’s dance charges a man’s price.

Re: Kissinger's idea that Ukraine should trade territory for peace. IMHO that is absurd and would only serve to embolden Putin and others around the world like him. Kissinger's other point about not humiliating Russia is also problematic. They are the largest country in the world and yet that is still not enough. Do they eventually need to conquer all of Europe to feel " safe", where does that stop? They are like the bully at the end of the bar who pushes his weight around and expects others to accommodate him, when in reality what he really needs is to get his ass kicked. Obviously it is not that simple since Putin has 6k nukes etc, but......

Problem is “we” have already caved in twice prior so Putin had every expectation this would be no different. Stood by and let Russia take Crimea and before that parts of the good Georgia.

100% agree. I have no idea what Kissinger is thinking. I understand realpolitik, but I think this is exactly a situation where we draw a line in the sand and say it’s completely up to Russia (and China) whether they want to be humiliated or not. We may be an aging big dog, but the big dog we still are. They made their move too soon, and we need to make it a painful lesson.

Problem is, it might be Russia that is "ground down" before this thing is over. We just have to stand fast with sending weapons to the Ukrainians so they have what they need to stop the russians.

Russia still hasn't come to terms that they will remain a pariah as long as Ukraine is not free of Russian control. They may win the war, but the sanctions and the isolationism will have a very high toll on the country that I doubt they want to pay.
