    Cnn live...good for him!

"A 20-year veteran of Russia's diplomatic service announced his resignation Monday in protest of his country's war on Ukraine, multiple media outlets reported.

In a rare public protest by a Russian official, Boris Bondarev, a diplomat posted to Russia's mission to the United Nations in Geneva, posted a statement on a LinkedIn account condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine and criticizing the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for complicity in what he described as an an "aggressive war" — language that is proscribed in Russia under wartime censorship laws.

"For twenty years of my diplomatic career I have seen different turns of our foreign policy, but never have I been so ashamed of my country as on February 24 of this year," Bondarev wrote, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision to invade Ukraine. "The aggressive war unleashed by Putin against Ukraine, and in fact against the entire Western world, is not only a crime against the Ukrainian people, but also, perhaps, the most serious crime against the people of Russia, with a bold letter Z crossing out all hopes and prospects for a prosperous free society in our country."

The respected Russian business newspaper Kommersant reached out to Bondarev, who confirmed the authenticity of the post. The New York Times confirmed the receipt of a resignation sent by email to diplomats in Geneva."

This isnt good. I had hoped that they had munitions depots protected by anti missile defense systems already. Where are the longer range drones or shore to ship missiles to take out those russian ships

Not good. I know they've held on but at some point they need more planes. I did hear the US is considering giving Ukranians long-range missiles. At this point they need them to get more Russian ships/positions.

    isn’t the info from Russia?

“Zenger News obtained the footage from the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of the Russian Federation on Monday.

The Russian MoD said (in English): "The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine.”

“High-precision, long-range sea-based missiles in the Zhitomir Region destroyed Ukrainian weapons and military in May 2022, Russian officials said.”

yes, but it supposedly has video, and coincides with reports of explosions east of Kyiv

found this interesting video, equipment well concealed but still spotted. It would be easy to believe that this is a result of satellite imaging and some form of IQ scan to pick out these targets and pin some GPS coordinates on them. Drones have good cameras but it would take a good set of eyeballs to pick out those individual targets

Maybe, but that would create a four-party bartering system in which the Russian purchaser would have to pay in rubles for the oil then have the Russian oil company tender the oil to a Chinese oil dealer who would then pay the Chinese retailer. I can only imagine the amount each oil dealer would skim off such a transaction.

can someone explain to me how Putin is keeping the ruble so high? up 30% since the invasion....Is it because he can't exchange foreign currency so there is a glut and that drives ruble up??

Ruble surges as Russia considers looser capital controls | Russia-Ukraine war News | Al Jazeera

The ruble’s blistering rebound picked up pace on Monday, ratcheting up pressure on Russia to ease a key capital-flow control that’s underpinned the currency’s recovery.

With the gains now threatening to hurt budget revenue and exporters, a decision to cut the share of hard-currency earnings that exporters convert into rubles could come as early as this week, according to two people familiar with the matter. The mandated proportion could be reduced to 50% from 80% currently, the people said, who requested anonymity because the details of the plan aren’t public.

The ruble’s rebound has left it more than 30% stronger against the dollar than it was before Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24. Authorities have been gradually easing the strict limits on foreign-exchange operations imposed in the days after the invasion to stem a sharp drop in the currency.

The restrictions, combined with a collapse in imports amid the sweeping sanctions the US and its allies imposed on Russia, all but eradicated demand for foreign currency just as supply surged thanks to high prices for largely unsanctioned energy exports.

Vladimir Putin 'underwent successful cancer surgery last week'

General SVR wrote today: 'On the night of Monday May 16 to Tuesday May 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin underwent a surgical operation. The fact that Putin should be operated on as soon as possible was insisted upon by his attending physicians. According to the doctors involved in the treatment of the President, the operation was successful.'

It’s likely not actually worth as much as the current price since you can’t actually buy and sell the ruble in most major exchanges now.

And folks want to object to giving Ukraine money from Russian assets/oligarchs? At least use Putin's/government officials funds/properties first.

They starve the world & blame the west. Only blind Putinists believe this
