Putin in on his 5th US president. He waits til now to move. What changed? (Not an attack on Biden, in case you think that's where im headed). Personally, I think what's changed, is China. China is in a position of power, and they flexed their muscles through covid (no consequence at all, because they dictated the narrative). Putin isnt stupid. Imo, he doesn't do this brazen act of defiance against the West, wothout some sort of backing beyond his admittedly formidable military. That backing is China. He and Xi entered into an agreement before this. China will have Russia's back, and undermine the efficacy of the sanctions. From "behind the scenes", as China has been doing for a very long time. 2 problems there. 1. Ukraine not a member of NATO; 2. And please correct me if i have this wrong, but not only did Ukraine not ask for our help, but didnt they expressly ask us to stay the hell out, and ask Biden to tone down the rhetoric?
I don’t doubt this. It could be useful to China as a distraction. Not sure Putin is waiting around for their approval, but then again I’m sure the timing of waiting until after the Olympics was some level of deference to them (and I guess not wanting to subject their athletes to western media ridicule).
Biden is really not in charge. He just gets the credit or blame. He is not smart enough to make decisions and these moves are coming from Obama a half mile down the street.
Doubt they asked us in any way to “stay the hell out”. That’s ridiculous. They certainly want any help the US or NATO would give. They did ask Biden to ease off the rhetoric a bit. Although it turns out U.S. intel was basically spot on.

Let's see if the folks who constantly cry about Trump randomly being brought up in threads will say something about this poster randomly bringing up Obama. My guess is "Nah"
