That is some serious unintentional humor. Only one country is trying to reestablish an empire. Not doing so hot, either.
The only way the 'shock will be biblical', is if psycho Putin finds his excuse to deploy a nuke or two. M*'r is just chomp'n at the bit for anything resembling an excuse to fire one or two off. That is the only thing to fear about Russia's antiquated rust bucket war machine. BTW, did you catch the epic flaw in your argument? Let me point it out for you: "Why is the world of Western dignitaries flying into Kyiv daily ?" Better question: If Russia is having its way in the Urkaine...how the hell are the world's dignitaries flying in and out of Kyiv at will, like it's O'Hare, Ronald Reagan, or JFK??? (and meeting daily with Zelensky, no less...further begging the question, how's that guy still prancing around his own capital city like its business as usual, if the big red Russian (conventional) war machine is so menacing???).
...but at least we got mean tweets out of office, because why then we might be looking at an inadvertent/accidental nuclear war or something... wait....NM...
Following up on above tweet -- the one guy trying to point out if Russia launches it's over for everyone because no more Earth, no one will survive. One of the other guys replies "Clean slate for the survivors". HUH? Guy just said no survivors LOL Couple of things I didn't know. That "new" Sarmat was made in Ukraine. Someone mentioned the program was stopped after this whole mess started in 2014. They have the one. Everything else is "normal" varieties of nukes. There's a map that says this can hit London in 200 seconds. Guy pipes up and says to threaten people by making them count out how many seconds to see. The gist (and it's on the video) is to threaten everyone with just how fast they'll be vaporized if anyone interferes with Russia. Hopefully more realize like that one guy that there are no winners if the world ends.
next test of unity will be is the EU going to allow energy companies to circumvent the sanctions and pay in rubles. EU warning not to buy in rubles but there are discussions that buyer pays in euro's, sale is considered closed, then buyer converts eros to rubles for Putin to help support the ruble. Germany, Turkey, Italy, France are biggest buyers with Germany the largest byf ar EU Warns Russian Gas Buyers That Ruble Payments Breach Sanctions - Bloomberg But companies continue to seek workarounds -- and guidelines from the EU last week may be encouraging them. The bloc published a document saying that companies should carry on paying in euros, but that the Russian decree setting out the new rules didn’t preclude exemptions. It suggested companies should seek confirmation from Moscow that a transaction could be considered closed once payment was made in euros, even if it was to be converted later to rubles. Uniper has said it’s talking to Gazprom. Uniper Says It Can Buy Russian Gas Without Busting Sanctions Habeck said it’s still not clear how Russia will react if companies pay in euros. Payment schedules are staggered and Poland appears to have been among the first whose bill came due in rubles. Others have more time: Uniper, for example, isn’t due to pay until late May.
Germany asleep at the switch with record low gas reserves. Have to wonder if someone intentionally allowed the reserves to drop to give Putin greater leverage Germany's gas reserves are at 'worrying' levels, admits government | Euronews Germany's gas reserves have fallen to "worrying" levels, the government admitted on Wednesday, amid tensions with Russia and a delay over approval of the new Nord Stream 2 pipeline. A spokeswoman for the ministry for the economy and climate told a press conference on Wednesday the government is "monitoring the situation of storage levels and it is certainly worrying." Gas reserves have fallen to 35-36% from 40% recently and 80% in 2020. More than 55% of Germany's gas imports come from Russia, a figure that has risen by 15 percentage points since 2012. Until now, the government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz had claimed that "supplies were assured" and that there was no risk of shortages despite increasing worry in the country that there might not be enough gas to last through the winter.
He's fairly cozy with Putin (not an ardent supporter but he's been dragging his feet the whole time) so I wouldn't doubt that he painted a rosier picture just to then say "oops we don't have any other options" to justify agreeing to Putin's demands.
Wonder what the EU thinks about fracking about now? They have lots of gas, just need to crack the geologic code to set it free. Germany, France, Netherlands, Scotland, and Bulgaria all banned fracking
Yeah sure, his tweets and words left a lot to be desired. His track record as POTUS, his policy moves and his results, OTOH, were pretty damn solid (especially while having to deal with a daily barrage of Russian hoax horseshit, hyper-partisan agenda driven crap, a hyper partisan nation wide media that that acted like Dem's personal lap dog politiburo, and an intel aparatus that decided its roll was to correct the stupid American voter's will, behind the veil of national security secrecy...). Results are the ultimate measure. ...and Bumbl'n Biden--the buffoon y'all replaced mean tweets with--sucks out loud wrt his results. Forgetting the litany of failures, I need only point to the fact that nuclear war is actually on the table for the first time in 3+ decades, and the bumbl'n buffoon in chief bears much of the blame there. Worthless, feckless, PO(TU)S.... Thx y'all.
