It seems very unlikely it would have been. My understanding is that the nuclear weapons it can carry are anti-ship missiles that are designed primarily to attack carrier groups. That’s simply not a relevant weapon for what it was doing here. There are a decent number of nuclear warheads out there that have seemingly been left in the water. Most are from strategic bombers either crashing or jettisoning their bombs during the height of the Cold War.
The same thing happened to Hitler’s Germany during the 30s. It’s mind-boggling how they were able to keep up with and in some cases exceed the military technology of the Western allies. I don’t think Russia will have that same advantage unless they lockdown emigration.
