Cnn live...interesting bit on the opposition side in India "Criticism from opposition at home: Tirumurti made his statement on the same day as India’s opposition Congress Party expressed concerns over the nation’s position on the war. During a parliamentary discussion on the issue, Shashi Tharoor described India’s first UN statement in February as “deplorable.” “I was shocked, I’ll say very honestly, at our first couple of statements at the United Nations … it was not just the abstention,” Tharoor said. Fellow Congress Party lawmaker Manish Tewari spoke on the evolving geopolitics, saying “this new Iron Curtain has the potential of actually dividing the world,” and added that India “may not have the option of being able to sit atop this new Iron Curtain.” “…Russia has been a trusted friend of India, and it has been a long-standing ally. Russia has come to India's aid in probably our most difficult times … But then Mr. Speaker, sir, friends also have to be told if they are wrong, that they possibly need to get their act together,” Tewari said."
Feel sorry for the minority of Russians who are against all this...but they need to get out because this seems to be more the norm
I know no one wants WW3, nuclear war, etc. I get that. Can anyone look at whats come out of Bucha & other places and honestly say we're not seeing history repeat itself (WW2)? Of all the things NATO & the US have gotten involved with in the past, THIS is absolutely what they should be stepping into. They need to get those planes to them - heck have the Ukranians tow them into Ukraine from Poland. And it's time to punch Russia in the teeth & say enough. UN forces, NATO, heck tell the Chinese to send peacekeepers to help alongside (which they'll say no but put them on the spot). And I agree with Zelensky. If the UN Security Council can't even come to an agreement on this then either kick Russia out or disband. Because the UN doesn't seem to be worth the paper the charter is written on. We're not watching a border conflict. We're watching evil incarnate. Just heard on the radio that they're bringing in mobile crematoriums to Mariupol to get rid of bodies and the evidence of what they've done. Sound familiar??
In a non nuclear world a no fly zone would have already been established and Russia would be getting its ass kicked in a conventional war.
Russians, Chinese, and Fox folks will spin it that she buried herself after tying her hands in a bid to make Russia look bad
I think they're bluffing on the nukes. They know the West fears this above all else. But they also know they'd be annihilated & that defeats the whole point of trying to expand your empire. Can't expand if you're dead and ashes. Yes Putin is crazy enough to do it but it's time for a no fly zone & get the Ukranians planes, the Iron Dome, etc. Russia at this point should be given the ultimatum themselves to get out or have war declared by NATO etc and see if they like thousands of WAY better armed troops headed their way. Looking at their military wouldn't be shocked if their nukes can't even launch. I know folks are worried. But this is literally this generation's Hitler. He needs to be stopped.
Cnn live. "US won't participate in G20 meetings with Russians From CNN's Kevin Liptak The United States won't participate in G20 meetings that Russia is participating in, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Wednesday. Speaking at the House Financial Services Committee, Yellen said she'd made that position clear to other finance ministers in the group. "President Biden’s made clear, and I certainly agree with him, that it cannot be business as usual for Russia in any of the financial institutions," Yellen said. "He’s asked that Russia be removed from the G20 and I’ve made clear to my colleagues in Indonesia that we will not be participating in a number of meetings if the Russians are there." Biden said during a news conference in Brussels last month that Russia should be ejected from the G20, but there would need to be agreement among other members to formalize the move"
Cnn live "US officials have disrupted a Russian botnet. Here's what that means. From CNN's Sean Lyngass US officials have seized control of a vast Russian government-controlled “botnet” — or army of thousands of infected computers that can be used for cyberattacks, saying that the Russians have used "similar infrastructure" against Ukranian targets. The botnet was controlled by a unit within the Russian GRU military intelligence agency known for disruptive cyberattacks such as the 2015 and 2016 hacks that cut power in Ukraine, FBI Director Christopher Wray said. Botnets have a range of potential uses, from knocking websites offline to more disruptive hacks that render computers inoperable. It was not immediately clear what specific hacks may have been thwarted, but Wray said that thousands of small businesses around the world had been infected with the GRU malware. US officials have been on high alert for potential Russian cyberattacks, particularly following President Joe Biden’s recent warning to business executives that “Russia's cyber capacity is fairly consequential and it's coming."
They should've been in the FIRST round of sanctions. "Why the US is targeting Putin's adult daughters in the latest round of sanctions From CNN's Kevin Liptak The US is targeting Vladimir Putin's two adult daughters in the latest round of sanctions because they believe the Russian president may be hiding some of his assets with them, according to the senior administration official. Without detailing which of Putin's assets could be hiding with Mariya Putina and Katerina Tikhonova, the official said the practice was common among the Russian elite. "We have reason to believe that Putin and many of his cronies and the oligarchs hide their wealth, hide their assets, with family members, that have placed their assets and their wealth in the US financial system, but also many other parts of the world," the official said. "That's why the coordination, the coordinated efforts to freeze their assets and seize their physical luxury goods — their cars, their yachts, their homes, etc — that's why it's so important that we act together," the official went on."
