I am way left on the Dunning Kruger graph but it may be in our best interests for them to know their (secondary) lines of communications are unreliable. The less comm, the less coordination. On the flip side, it's easy for the Russians to exploit open channels by broadcasting misinformation.

    Any comm warfare folks here?

"UK revokes broadcasting license of Russian state-funded propaganda network RT

The United Kingdom on Friday revoked the broadcasting license of the Kremlin-backed propaganda network RT, according to a statement from regulators.

The statement from regulator Ofcom said its investigation into RT had found its licensee, ANO TV Novosti, was not fit and proper to hold a UK broadcast license.

"RT is funded by the Russian state, which has recently invaded a neighbouring sovereign country," the statement said. "We also note new laws in Russia which effectively criminalise any independent journalism that departs from the Russian state’s own news narrative, in particular in relation to the invasion of Ukraine. We consider that given these constraints it appears impossible for RT to comply with the due impartiality rules of our Broadcasting Code in the circumstances," the statement said.
RT was taken off the air in the UK two weeks ago after the country and the European Union imposed sanctions on Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine.

Moscow denounced this decision and said it is part of “the anti-Russian madness that is happening in Europe and the US” and another step to “grossly restrict freedom of speech.”"

"France says sanctions are starting to have "real impact" on Russia

From CNN’s Xiaofei Xu in Paris

Western sanctions are beginning to have a “real impact” on Russia, French government spokesman Gabriel Attal said in an interview with CNN affiliate BFMTV on Friday.

“This is the point of our action, all the measures we are taking are aimed at ensuring that this war costs him (Russian President Vladimir Putin) so much that in the end he will be forced to give it up,” Attal said, defending France and the West’s decision to send weapons and aid to Ukraine while not engaging in the war directly.

He cited the depreciating ruble, Moscow’s stock exchange remaining closed for nearly three weeks and the decision by Lukoil, Russia’s second biggest oil company, to call on Putin to end the conflict as evidence of the impact."

"Kremlin says Biden’s remarks about Putin amount to "personal insults"

US President Joe Biden’s remarks about his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin amount to personal insults, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday.

“Moscow hears and sees what is already daily statements made by President Biden, which are already, in fact, personal insults of Putin,” Peskov told reporters on a regularly held conference call. Speaking at the annual Friends of Ireland Luncheon on St. Patrick's Day in Capitol Hill on Thursday, Biden said Putin was "a murderous dictator, a pure thug," who is waging an immoral war against the people of Ukraine.”

Peskov added that he didn’t want to react harshly to these statements in view of Biden's "irritability, fatigue and forgetfulness” and so as “not to cause more aggressiveness.”

“Taking into account President Biden's irritability, fatigue and forgetfulness, which lead to such aggressive statements, we will not give sharp assessments of his words, so as not to cause more aggressiveness,” he said."

Interesting point. There might be broader “strategery” involved. I was just thinking purely in terms of their ability to pinpoint generals #5 and #6 via the same methods. Putting out “these idiots are using open phone lines!” you would think makes that a high priority for the Russians to adjust.

"Dmitry Rogozin, the outspoken head of Russia’s space agency Roscosmos, expressed his excitement today for delivering the next crew of cosmonauts to the International Space Station.

But his choice of words was peculiar, to say the least.

“The State Commission at Baikonur approved the main and backup crews of the Soyuz MS-21 manned spacecraft,” Rogozin tweeted in Russian. “The boys are in a fighting mood.”"

Again, it's not just Putin. Did Hitler kill all 6 million Jews? Putin's inner circle are fanatics. As he weeds out the insubordinates, his regime will get harder to defeat. We should have taken him out long ago. I was watching a YT video of a Russian talk show that was trying to egg on Putin to launch a nuclear missile at the Nevada Testing Grounds to serve as a reminder that Russia will nuke the US if we don't hand over Ukraine. 75% of Russians are on the side of Putin. Cutting them off from social media now provides 100% Putin propaganda and the people there actually think Ukraines are Nazis and that the US is the new SS.

Yeah the drawback of isolating them is now they can kill/silence everyone else & it's an echo chamber. That's some insane stuff from that talk show. Because they think we wouldn't retaliate and turn Russia into a wasteland. It's like the whole lot of them seem to just want WW3.

One of the funnier lines in that article was like "Isaacman, who's never talked about his MIG-29 publicly before." This article raises a whole lot of questions for me lol.

Well to be on the list you'd need something to count. So 1. But that's one too many for my comfort. It is hilarious, though, that NK is in the same nuke category as some guy who likely built one in his basement for the heck of it.

I'm not sure about the accuracy of that 75% number. While it was accurate when Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine three weeks ago I suspect that number is lower today following the deaths of an estimated 7,000 Russian soldiers in Ukraine. While the majority of Russians probably still support the invasion my guess is that number is declining and will continue in that direction. Although Putin's disinformation campaign has been relatively effective he cannot hide reality from the Russian people for however.

In a documentary on how Putin came to power, when he was young it was said that he observed a rat that was being chased. When cornered that rat became the aggressor. That instance left a lasting impression on him the documentary claimed. It was also said that while in power, he has a great distrust for the west especially for the US and that war with the US is inevitable. From what we know, Putin is a very proud man and one who doesn't value life. In all this situation that has not gone according to his plan or liking it is possible that he sees himself being cornered like that rat. Which is a very dangerous situation for the world.

Right now his army is underperforming. Even if he were to take hold of Ukraine he knows it's not possible to occupy it for he has created intense hatred for the occupiers. He knows this invasion is an embarrassment for him. He knows much of the the entire world sees him and Russia as a snake. His economy is failing. The moral of his troops and the people at home dislike the war and see beyond the propaganda. It's also possible he might even fear being removed by others in Russia who have power.

If the fears are valid that he might use chemical weapons, it's very possible that he knows this will provoke some kind of offensive action by the west. I could see this cornered rat unleashing WWIII not with conventional weapons but with nuclear. What does he have to lose? He rather be feared, dead than humiliated or deposed.

We must act with great caution and not be provoked into a cataclysmic war. It is beyond deplorable what is happening in Ukraine. We are not standing idle, we are giving the weapons to fight. But like Bill Barr says, we must not let this escalate. Nuclear war everyone loses. Now, if Putin attacks a Nato country, we have no choice.
