Some of my contra-narrative sources include … Moon of Alabama is a retired German tank commander. Brian Berletic is a former U.S. Marine. Simplicious is a Brit. Alexander Mercouris is a Brit of Greek origin. Big Serge is an American. AMK Mapping is Ukrainian. Daniel Davis is a retired U.S. Army colonel. Not a Russkie among them.
Did you just say that a Russian source is better than an American source? How times have changed. I'm so old I remember when Republicans thought Reagan was the "greatest president of all time" for bringing down the wall and ending Communism, now Republicans seem all excited to bring the USSR back. Putin really has done a number. Talk about a 180 (ps 180 is half of 360)
How many have you asked? I know only one Ukrainian who has been here a while. She has family there and hates the Russians.
Ah well, libbies argue that the Democrats who upheld slavery and Jim Crow and opposed civil rights are black people champions today.
Did you ask here why she’s not over there fighting Russians ? That’s okay, I wish I had a dollar for every time I walked away from a conversation beating myself up with, “Damn! Why didn’t I ask that ?”
Oh,,, possibly because she’s over 60 and just beat breast cancer by having a total mastectomy. Other than that. Now answer my question. How many have you asked?
She probably blames Putin for her breast cancer. And there is no need for many to go to the Donbas and speak with people there who were subject to indiscriminate shelling for a decade. I have no reason to question the reports.
Question for knee-jerk Russophobes … China engineers a coup in Mexico. Radicalizes much of the population against US. Heavily arms and trains the Mexican army. Would you: (A) wake up angry every morning or (B) toss and turn every night before waking up angry ?
Reagan was great and he would agree with just about every post I ever made on Too Hot. He would agree with me that he should have more aggressively cut gov't spending and he would admit the 1986 amnesty bill he signed was his greatest mistake Many of the older Putin haters here are socialists who were no doubt sympathetic to the USSR. Now that Russia and it's president are no longer communist liberals/leftists hate them. (Putin is profoundly anticommunist). It's now the US that more closely resembles the USSR. The J6ers were political prisoners who were thrown in jail without due process, for example. A friend of my father, Stefan Possony, co-wrote a book that some believe helped bring down the USSR: The Strategy of Technology (1973). The idea was for the US to outpace the USSR on Defense by getting far enough ahead of them technologically so that they would bankrupt themselves trying to keep up. Now Russia is ahead of the US military technologically and America is bankrupting itself with excessive defense and non-defense spending. If Reagan was still president he would have gotten along with Putin and he would have been against starting a proxy war against Russia
On February 16, 2022, in violation of the Minsk agreements Ukraine launched thousands of rounds of artillery at Russian-speakers in eastern Ukraine. Earlier in the month Biden had predicted Russia would invade on February 16. Obviously he knew what was going to happen on that date. The US wanted war. They thought they could then put devastating sanctions on Russia, collapse it's economy, depose Putin, split Russia apart on ethnic lines into many separate countries. In this way US neocons Jews thought they could pay back Russia for snti-Jewish pogroms and help maintain American hegemony. The next step was going to be an attempt to destroy China
Continuing … If you knew that China purposed to use Mexico as a battering ram to generate unrest in the U.S., so as to see our government ousted and our country weakened would you … (A) throw out your lower back jumping up and down and raging or (B) break your hand punching the wall ?
There is a good reason for that. Putin decided to use terrorism to take over eastern Ukraine in 2014. That was Plan B. Plan A was to use bribery to encourage Ukrainian politicians, who were notoriously corrupt at the time, to have more pro-Russian policies and be more sympathetic to a "friendly" Russian takeover of the country. That failed. So in 2014, Putin inserted Russians with weapons into eastern Ukraine to weaken the country, and initiated partisan activities, including homicide and terrorism, to de-stabilize the eastern provinces. Many of these people, and their relatives, are still in the eastern parts of Ukraine, providing intel to the Russian army. These are the ones that are proudly voting for Ukraine to join Russia. They are not Ukrainians. When our resident Russophile whines about people thinking that history started in 2022, he wants you to ignore that the events in 2014 that resulted from Putin's decisions. Putin did not decide on a whim to take over Ukraine in 2021 or 2022. He's been working at it for a long time, using an incremental approach that would not be enough to initiate a response from NATO. Also, pumping bribes into the country assured that Europe would not want anything to do with a corrupt country like Ukraine. What Putin failed to foresee is Ukraine getting a capable and honest leader who was able to organize resistance to an invasion in 2022 AND willing to fight corruption at the same time. The Southern Democrats who upheld slavery and Jim Crow and opposed civil rights have become the Republicans of the 21st Century. The late Strom Thurmond who interestingly held the record for the longest Senate filibuster when he spoke against the Civil Rights Act of 1957 started the conversion of the Dixiecrats to Republicans. In 1948 Thurmond ran as the candidate of the Dixiecrat (formal name States Rights) Party in response to the pro civil rights plank in the platform of the National Democratic Party. In 1964 he formally became a Republican and was followed by other Southern Democrats. Keep in mind that he was Republicans who opposed and killed voting rights legislation in 2001 not Democrats. The closest national politician to the the former Democrat Strom Thurmond is the current resident of the White House with the penchant for orange makeup and who has defined himself by his opposition to any policies even remotely resembling DEI and/or have recognized the American history of both public and private racism.
Putin is more fascist than anti-communist. He’s a fascist dictator, and you want to believe his data and sources over the US? Me thinks you might be drinking Russian Kool-Aid
The USSR communists instructed American communists to call people who criticized communism "fascists." Looks like you are a good learner
I'm not even American, asshat. No, it's because he acts and rules like a fascist. It's incredible how "Americans" support dictatorships, while trying to bully democratically elected leaders. Says a lot about the mental state of many Americans. Anything to justify hate and division. The last time there was this many global dictators was WWII.
You weren't smart enough to notice that Russia became anti-communist while America was morphing into the USSR. What country are you from?
Their collections systems that have been trained on the Russians since the late 1940's and are so good that they were able to tell the Ukrainians that the Russians were going to invade. The things that random people with website do not have. Is this really a question?
