I was ambivalent about getting involved in this too much but now I think it’s gotten to the point where we have to take Putin out and kick their asses.
LOL yeah that was a dumb question. Sorry. I'm blaming my 2 strokes for making a stupid question & that's what I'm sticking to.
Germans seize $600M yacht. That has to sting a little bit German authorities seize $600m yacht of Putin-linked billionaire Alisher Usmanov (msn.com) German authorities have seized a massive yacht belonging to billionaire Alisher Usmanov at a shipyard in Hungary, part of the European Union’s effort to crack down on associates of Vladimir Putin amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. The craft, a 512-foot boat called the Dilbar, is worth a reported $600m, according to Forbes, which reported the seizure. The yacht, one of the largest ever built, features a 25-metre swimming pool, two helipads, an on-ship garden, and requires a crew of 80 people to keep it running.
France seized a yacht linked to a sanctioned Russian oligarch : NPR French authorities say they have seized a yacht linked to sanctioned Russian oligarch Igor Sechin. Sechin served as Russia's deputy prime minister from 2008 to 2012 and is the current CEO of state oil company Rosneft. He is among the several "elites close to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin" that the U.S. Treasury Department targeted with sanctions last week. The European Union imposed sanctions against Sechin on Monday, calling him one of Putin's "most trusted and closest advisors, as well as his personal friend" and saying the two were in daily contact. French finance minister Bruno Le Maire announced on Thursday that French authorities had seized Sechin's yacht — named "Amor Vero," or "True Love" in Italian — at the Mediterranean port of La Ciotat on Wednesday.
Putin seems intent on taking all of us down with him. My neighbor's cat should be good for about 4 meals....
"No country besides Russia has ever fired upon an atomic power plant’s reactors. The first time, the first time in history," he said, urging European leaders to "wake up now" and stop Russian forces “before this becomes a nuclear disaster.” --Zelensky
I was watching the coverage of this and they were talking about that 40 mile long convoy outside of Kyiv. My thought was to take the majority of the Ukranian army outside the city, leave a token force in the city and then when the Russians encircle the city attack them from behind.
After 9/11 I recall a concern being terrorist attacks on nuclear plants. and here we are. Russia is a terrorist state.
We need to let it play out. Lots of emotions right now and Putin is playing games. Only way we get involved is if they attack NATO, or other countries start lining up on their side, like China NK or Iran.
More like trying to find the right people to do the job through back channels. I find it very hard to believe that there is any consensus at any level in Russia that supports the insanity of what Putin is doing. The army must be turned somehow. They are soldiers obeying the orders of a madman now.
I mean, it was a training building on fire, I doubt the Russians would care much about that. Apparently they have control of the facility now, so they got what they set out to get and this isn't gonna deter future similar actions either.
From the internet: The power plant being shelled is a pressurized water reactor, where the fuel is immersed in water at all times. Should the coolant flow stop, the heating of the water itself begins to moderate the reaction (opposite of what happened in Chernobyl). The core is entombed (so to speak) in a western style containment vessel and there are no graphite coated tips on the control rods, those now use the western style, far more expensive zirconium allow. As long as the Russians do not hit the containment vessel or the containment tombs where the spent fuel rods are stored (if they are stored on site) there should be little risk of a Chernobyl type event. All of that said, just for shelling anywhere near a nuclear power plant, the entire world should attack and destroy Russia once and for all. That is about one of the most STUPID things that a supposed military power could ever, ever do (and yet another in the long, long line of reasons that nuclear power plants should all be idled and done away with for ever)!

Knew it. CNN live- Russians claiming Ukrainians instigated, set the fire themselves, and that it's sabotage & an attempt to make them look bad: "Konashenkov claimed that Zelensky's statements and communication about the incident "leave no doubt. The purpose of the provocation of the Kyiv regime at a nuclear facility is an attempt to accuse Russia of creating a source of radioactive contamination.""
Cnn live "Kherson's population is facing violence from Russian forces, one resident tells CNN From CNN’s Nick Paton Walsh in Odessa, Ukraine People in the Ukrainian city of Kherson have been subjected to violence by Russian troops, a local resident told CNN on Friday. The individual warned that the situation inside the city is deteriorating. We can’t go outside,” the resident said. “Men are being seized and taken away.” The resident shared with CNN a video of a convoy of civilian cars, accompanied by some Russian military vehicles, arriving in Kherson Wednesday night. “Yesterday 50 buses from Crimea drove past us, and settled in the local administration,” the resident said, although CNN has not been able to verify that the cars came from Crimea."
So...about $90 now? "Russia's lower house passes law criminalizing "discredit of Russian military," state media reports From CNN’s Vasco Cotovio and Nathan Hodge in Moscow The lower house of the Russian Parliament has passed a law criminalizing the spreading of false information discrediting the Russian military and any calls for sanctions against Russia, state news agencies TASS and Ria Novosti reported on Friday. Those charged with breaking the new law could face fines of 1.5 million rubles (about $14,000) or prison sentences of up to 15 years, TASS and RIA reported." ---- Desperate, huh? Russian state media finally reporting from Ukraine but at the airport, showing that blown up Antonov, claiming the UKRANIANS attacked it and blew it up but that Russia controls the airport.
