Make them defend the whole field and fight on their soil where they haven't put mines everywhere to negate the armored equipment advantages. The fact that Russian gas is still flowing thru Ukraine is crazy
I have been seeing that momentum was shifting for a while but wasn’t sure if it was true or just ai giving me what I want and not what was true. It looks like Russia is about to be routed. Putin’s only hope is the election of his stooge, Trump. If that isn’t a clue to what is best for the world and us I don’t know what is.
That would be great - but they've been advancing pretty consistently in the east. Now maybe Ukraine has been trading land for lives, but they can only do that for so long before the gains become strategically significant.
too many mines and drones for either to be routed unless their logistics collapses or one gains air superiority, which is what could be a tipping point as the supply lines and materials get taken out.
more dive sites coming soon?? Ukraine may have found new ships to target in its quest to hobble Russia's Black Sea Fleet (msn.com) The Atesh group, a resistance movement of Ukrainians and Tatars in Crimea, said it constantly monitors the coast in Crimea, particularly in Sevastopol. It identified one of the ships as the Konstantin Olshansky, which Russia captured from Ukraine in 2014. Russian forces, it said, had hidden the ships amid cranes and port infrastructure, hoping to save them. Atesh said it passed its information to Ukraine's military "and there is no doubt that soon more of the enemy's ships will sink," according to the translation by the Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Post.
Interesting that Putin calls this Ukrainian push a “provocation”. What has Russia’s two year push been?
Interesting move to make Russia devote resources on their own territory. Also the potential of a small bargaining chip for later. No way in hell to they push much beyond, so no march on Moscow. Big embarrassment for pootie pie though. Also historic as the last time anyone took any Russian territory was WWII.
In Kursk, Ukraine incurring horrific losses to show temporary territorial gains to its Western benefactors. In this, Ukraine is like the hapless boxer, pounded to the canvas, shakily rising and holding its fingers in the air to signal “I can still fight!” Because as soon as it stops fighting the match is over.
get behind the mine fields and then move laterally to cut off attacking troops may be a goal...or it could be a feint just to get russia to move resources
this general preferred to fly his plane into a mountain?? Russian Major General's Plane Crashes: Report - Newsweek
Russia whines about Ukraine launching a "massive attack" into the Russian province of Kursk. About 300 Ukrainian soldiers seized a town six miles in from the border (after shelling it), and captured 22 Russian troops who surrendered to the superior military of Ukraine. Several thousand Russians from the town fled in a panic, screaming hysterically on their way to the Urals, or so I've been told. One possible reason for the attack was indicated in a report that Ukraine seized a natural gas transit station in the attack. It controls flow of gas to Europe. Ukraine may have blown it up to put a stop to Russian gas income from their wealthy customers in Europe. It would be a shame if that happened before Russia had a chance to finish its pipeline to China . . . https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/07/europe/russia-ukrainian-troops-cross-border-intl/index.html
It's more of a military death than a balcony. Slightly heroic-sounding. Balconies are for oligarchs and trouble-makers. A plane crash also leaves less of a body to autopsy afterwards.
What I want to know is, is it a “war” yet, Vlad? Or is this raid just a Ukrainian “special military operation?”
Well, let’s slow our roll on that. This is probably just a raid, meaning the Ukrainians fully intend to withdraw as soon as they are decisively engaged. (Pure speculation on my part; I learned about this on the news just now) But I agree the informational effect is significant, even if the military effect ends up being minimal.
Cut a major road delivering ski artillery shells to. Unofficial reports say Ukranian units are as much as 20 kilometers deep. You know how many gallons of ski blood have been expended pushing forward 10 kilometers beyond Andikva!
