looks like missiles took out that russian sub. pretty arrogant of russia to dock it there knowing they could reach it

Putin's £275,000,000 submarine sent 'to the bottom of the Black Sea' (msn.com)

Russia appears to have lost a £257,000,000 submarine capable of deploying nuclear missiles after Ukraine claims to have sunk it.The Rostov-on-Don was docked at Sevastopol, headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, when it was hit by missiles, Ukraine’s Armed Forces said on Saturday.

‘As a result of the impact, the boat sank on the spot’, the Ukrainian military said on social media.

‘The destruction of “Rostov-on-Don” once again proves that there is no safe place for the Russian fleet in the Ukrainian territorial waters of the Black Sea.’

I am not sure if things have taken a turn for the worse for Russia or my algorithms are showing me only what I want to hear. lol. Things don’t seem to be going well for Putin though.

Looks like an old Kilo. Non nuke but was a pain in the ass to find when submerged. China and Iran had a few back in the day but not sure Iran was able to use them as designed. Used to be a concern that they could easily shut down the straits of Hormuz choke point if things got hairy but it never came to that.

If they really lost a sub to a country without a Navy, that is embarrassing as hell.

I believe that a lot of missiles were being launched out of those subs. it would be nice to not have to worry about incoming from the black sea and be able to use that anti-missile capability elsewhere

Everybody in Brussels now admits the war is lost and Ukraine will lose territory. But they feel the war must go on for another 6-9 months to help the US Democratic Party. What's another 250K dead Ukrainians mean to NATO? Maybe 1/4% of the vote in the US presidential election? Pure evil

So a $350M sub not counting crew. Isn’t that a big deal for Russia? They seem impervious by their losses.

This is Russia. The same country that burned their entire crop, destroyed all of their food, water, plants, animals, tools, and infrastructure as they retreated during Operation Barbarossa in 1941 and 1942. No, it's not a big deal to them.

Not really. Putin is taking from oligarchs and raising taxes while continuing to lose massive amounts of hardware. Russians seem tp be getting closer to pushing back though with the recent tax hike

Russia plans higher taxes for rich, companies as cost of Ukraine war mounts

No …. There’s a huge difference. In 1941-42, they were retreating FROM an invading, barbaric army that sought to level and annihilate Russia and her people, and thus as a strategic move Russia burned the food supplies it left behind to deprive its enemy of the food.

Today, Russia is the invading barbaric army.

Losing a $350million submarine to a country with no Navy is expensive, painful and embarrassing, all grouped together.

That’s a rather odd retort to a statement on history that is really not a debatable point. But I guess if that’s your best foot forward for an argument, you just have to go with it.

corruption grounding russian planes. bought cheap Chinese bearings?? these are their version of awacs and they only have a few left

Il-76 Aircraft Grounded as Defective Parts Cost Russian Defense Dearly (msn.com)

The Russian Ministry of Defense has incurred damages amounting to 130 million rubles because of the supply of defective aircraft parts for the Il-76 military transport aircraft, as reported by Izvestia.

    Defective Parts Identified
According to Lenta the defective parts, identified as counterfeit bearings, were discovered after the planes had already been put into operation.
    ....................
Former Air Force commander Valery Gorbenko commented on the severity of the situation, noting that the damage is significant even if the parts were quickly replaced. He highlighted that five planes being disabled is a considerable loss

If you want to live in the delusion that Russia is losing sleep over a $350 million hardware loss, then carry on. Russia is destroying more than $350 million in Ukrainian/American equipment daily. It's the cost of having a war. Do you really think Russia is fretting over a submarine? In your mind, maybe they are, but I suspect it is more that you just have to find something to cling to, because you've taken up a losing battle with this Ukraine-Russia debacle.

Yes. I think that Russia is disturbed that it lost a $350 million piece of equipment, particularly when it was lost due to sheer incompetence. I feel very comfortable stating that someone opining that Russia, or any other country, doesn’t care that it lost such equipment —not active in war but through sheer negligence— is not being honest.

I’m just grateful that our Nation’s treasure is not, at least today, run by someone with such a cavalier indifference to economic waste and embarrassment.
