To add some levity...Zelensky was a comedian in a sitcom about a teacher that becomes President.

He also won the Ukranian version of Dancing with the Stars.

There was a TikTok guy who made a joke that he's become the impossibility perfect Jewish man in that in the middle of everything he supposedly still called his mother. The TikToker himself is Jewish so he saidbhis mom already said "if Zelensky can call his mother during a war what's your excuse?"

I believe his wife is a pilot, too.

I don’t believe the FSB is concerned with morality. They poison and kill Putin’s opposition with no compunction

Would love to see this but I don't know that there's a mechanism in place nor that they'd have support from China, etc on this...

    From CNN live

"Ukraine calls on UN to reconsider Russia's permanent membership on Security Council

From CNN's Anastasia Graham-Yooll and Niamh Kennedy in London

The Ukrainian government is calling on the United Nations to reconsider Russia’s status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Wednesday, questioning the legitimacy of Russia’s position on the council.

Speaking in televised address, Kuleba called for a “thorough and unbiased” legal review of Russia’s permanent membership.

“We are confident that when the analysis is complete, it will be evident that Russia’s presence at the UN Security Council is illegitimate,” Kuleba said.
“Everything depends on readiness and determination of the legal team of the UN secretariat to investigate this,” he added. "

It was just a guess...no idea other than the nukes being at play.

Or the Intel came from CIA/Someone else & they said that to plant mistrust in the ranks for Putin?

I’ve seen many comments on why it’s understandable that Putin would invade Ukraine due to NATO potentially being at its doorstep, and those comments typically are from conservatives. Now, when we say things like “conservatives said this” or “liberals said that”, it’s not intended to be literal. Obviously, that doesn’t mean every single conservative or liberal said it. It doesn’t even mean the majority said it.

With that, please spare us the false indignation. As if there aren’t conservative posters here who claim liberals want this or liberals said that. Do you also enter the threads created by my homie @dadx4 and lecture him on not painting liberals with a broad brush?

I can’t get jiggy wit anything you said. Sorry.

He's also in a music video in leather pants, stiletto heels, and leather upper body straps singing. Someone joked "leather daddy bests Vladdy Daddy and that's why he's mad". I LOLd

Conversely it's illegal in Russia to have imagery of Putin in drag because it promotes homosexuality (their words not mine), and you can be jailed. So artists all over have been doing artwork of...Putin in drag.

People need to stop with the "tactical nukes" scary stuff. No one using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Least of all Russia unless they plan on dealing with the fallout for decades to come. Thermobaric weapons, or "poor man's nukes" as they are referred to, have been widely used by both the Russians and their allies, as well as by the US in the caves in Afghanistan from the 1990's through today. They are insideous weapons that should never have been created, but here we are.

Meanwhile, 137 pages in and still, what is the point of all of this? Russia's army is taking a a major black eye, with small (by their totals) but mounting losses that they did not anticipate. The Russian economy is all but dead and as long as high tech companies hold the line, it will take the Russians some time to convert their war machines to Chinese built tech. And, when all of that is said and done, how does Russia hold Ukraine as soon as the talks roll out? The Ukranians seem like a people who will dig in and fight a guerilla war for their homes and will be receiving all kinds of aid from NATO to continue to fight. I am not sure Russia is committed to another soon-to-be-failed occupation.

So, what is the endgame in all of this?? As soon as the tanks roll out, Ukraine assassinates the Russian puppet put in charge, overthrows the Russian installed government and declares the desire to join the EU and NATO. Then what?? Do it all over again??

Maher was making a joke about Russia = Kanye, ie the ex-husband (or STBX) who stalks his ex-wife and will stop at nothing to keep her and the children from living a normal, free life.

Funny, but debatable. NATO countries cannot directly engage Russian troops or it's WW3.

I see a lot of Republicans who are supportive of Biden's actions against Russia, with the largest critique being we need to become energy independent here in the US, which is plenty fair and true. There may be some fringe Republicans who are giving Russia some rope, but there are fringe Democrats on other issues as well that 90% of Americans would never accept.

    From CNN live:

"UN General Assembly votes to condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine

From CNN’s UN correspondent Richard Roth

The United Nations General Assembly just overwhelmingly voted to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It was a ringing global denunciation by the world against Russia.

The vote was 141 nations in favor of the move and five nations were against it, with 35 countries abstaining.

As the results were placed on the screen in the chamber, a rare standing ovation occurred.

The result while legally non-binding carries some political weight globally, though it is doubtful if it will change Moscow’s military aggression.

The resolution “also demands that the Russian Federation immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.”"

Ha! Good luck stopping those brave enough to go there & help fight/help. From CNN live

"White House discourages Americans from going to fight in Ukraine

    From CNN's Nikki Carvajal

The White House discouraged Americans from traveling to Ukraine to help defend the country from a Russian invasion on Wednesday, after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked foreigners to come join the fight.

“Ukrainians have shown their courage and they are calling on every resource and lever they have to defend themselves,” principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said aboard Air Force One. “We applaud their bravery, however our travel advisory remains.”

She reiterated, “US citizens should not travel to Ukraine.”

In a statement on Sunday, Zelensky addressed "all citizens of the world, friends of Ukraine, peace and democracy," saying, "Anyone who wants to join the defense of Ukraine, Europe and the world can come and fight side by side with the Ukrainians against the Russian war criminals.""

Aaaaaand they walked it back...CNN live

"Biden administration does not "have a strategic interest" in banning Russian oil exports, White House says

    From CNN's Betsy Klein

The White House appeared to walk back its openness to ban Russian oil exports to punish Russian President Vladimir Putin, declining to rule it out entirely but saying that doing so was not in the US strategic interests due to disruptions to the global oil supply and the impact it would have on prices at the pump.

“We don't have a strategic interest in reducing the global supply of energy,” principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard Air Force One.

Jean-Pierre said that an export ban “would raise prices at the gas pump for Americans,” something that the White House is “very aware of.”"

Yeah I've seen numerous national officials who at least sympathize with Putin if not openly support him. And we just had 2 Repub congresspeople attend a rally where the crowd was chanting 'Putin, Putin...'
